Like anything else, you're gonna get different opinions.I live in Dothan, and have been since 1998.I love it.Why? As some mentioned, you can be on the beach in about 90 minutes in panama city,or,destin in 2 hours or so.Poplulation is about 68,000.There is a mall, but the biggest thing if you like to eat out,per capita, they have more restaurants than any other city. You can hop on the bypass and be where you need to be in minutes most of the time.Yes,montgomery is the next biggest city, but I lived there as a kid,and the crime rate is much worse. They have 2 major hospitals, tons of specialist, doctors, you name it. If you have any questions about anything, lemme know. Also, you're only minutes from the Georgia state line,as well as florida state line
Thanks for the input as well and the post preceeding. Is Farley power plant in Dothan, North, south, east, west of the city.

WTF!!! Didn't realize only uneducated hillbillies enjoyed outdoor activities.

That was certainly not my intention to imply that. I am very educated and love nothing more than sitting in a deer stand on a cold morning. What I meant is that it is not a very cultured city. In other words, you are not going to have much of a wine and cheese crowd if that is what you are into.

I want to ask without coming across as being racist, but what is the ethnic breakdown for Dothan.

Haha I hear ya. City limits I think are about 30-40% black. Comparatively small Latino population compared with the current trend. Decent amount of Asians due to the Sony plant. Go outside of downtown though and you are talking lily white. This is not like a Selma, AL or anything if that is what you are asking.

I'm glad someone else mentioned it but Dothan has a ton of restaurants for the size of the city. That's another thing that always struck me about the place when I visited. That and the fact that they had a lot of hotties. I dated a basketball dance team girl from Dothan while at Bama.

P.S. They also have a fairly nice water park in the city as well.

Dothan= Tuscaloosa without the nasty river. Same amount of rednecks.

Dothan is actually more comparable to Auburn.

T-town is much bigger and nicer.

Auburn attracts alot of rednecks due to the fact that it's the agricultural school. Plus, Auburn doesnt have a river either.

Monticello beat me, but its near if not on the Chattahoochee river east of town. Hwy 84 runs between Dothan and Bainbridge, GA (if you know Bama football, Kirby Smart's hometown) and the power plant is about 20 miles east of Dothan. Another 40 miles or so and you are in Bainbridge.

The Hooch and Flint join at Lake Seminole in SW Ga and form the Apalachicola River. If you have never been, I highly recommend a trip to Apalachicola, Fl. Boss Oyster serves up some of the best in the world.

The whole town smells like fried food and everything in town shuts down at like 8pm. There are some nicer homes outside of town around the golf course, but as far as overall nice areas, it is lacking. Has pretty much every chain restaurant you can think of but only has a decent local steak place and a halfway decent seafood/oyster place. There's a few milfs working for the hospital, but the women in the town are nothing to be excited about.

You going work for sony or something?

Sony is now closed down.I can't even buy sony dvd's from wal-mart anymore. They have 2 wal-mart super centers,4 winn dixies-publix,piggly wigglies, you name it.The farley nuclear plant is east of dothan, roughly 20-25 minutes, off HWY 84 east

Concur with Jasper. If you ever feel down and in the dumps, go to the Jasper WalMart. Your spirits will lift immediately.

Oh hell yeah.

Going to Jasper is an instant boost of self confidence.

Be careful when there not to verbalize it.

They have hit men and shite.
