I am curious what the tax implications are and what is the point of it versus just giving him money.

Lol nice auto-reply there.

Perfectly content with Miles.

Pardon me for posting the 2nd headline from Al.com (main page, not the spots page) on a message board culminating of SEC football news.

Maybe you should email Al.com and ask them what the hell they are doing over there reporting such trivial news?

Weren't the boosters paying for his home anyway? Maybe they just wanted to save the money going to interest.

I would assume they bought the house from him so they own it and Saban is allowed to live their rent free as long as he likes. If he ever decides to leave that house then they can sale it and hopefully get back most if not all of what they paid for it. If they just give him money Saban still owns it.

FMV of rent should be included in Saban's gross income unless there is some cool rule they are abusing to get him out of that. Does he host functions there?

Why the hell are you so concerned? I'm sure they structured it within the tax law and are following the rules. So if rent would be $12,000 a month I'm sure he is paying tax on that $144,000 a year. I'm pretty sure he can swing that tax bill. I also bet Saban has good accountants and lawyers that structured it the most advantageous way for him.

The most pertinent thing I take from this is that it seems there is an impending turf war between the REC and CTF. Blood will be spilt and many "roll tides" will be yelled.

Yes he hosts functions, they host a big A-day party every year. Of course they are "abusing" the tax laws.

Sorry, I find it interesting? I am suggesting potential for tax avoidance not possibility of tax evasion.

I guess I curious is their a tax advantage to this, and if so what?
