So he admits there is holding like every damn play, a few years ago bama went like the whole season with 1 freaking holding call. So he pretty much is saying we see it we throw the flag for other teams sometimes but not for my tide

I think I remember it was most prevalent in Bama's first championship year when both our running backs were having great years. 2012 was another great year for holding. But I feel it definitely is a funny thing to hear from different people. Doesn't bother me in the least. I'm just wondering where its origin lies.

Maybe, just maybe, it isn't a coincidence that there are less holding calls when you have a veteran offensive line that knows how to use proper technique without doing what it gets called.

And the origin is that on a CBS broadcast in 09, Gary remarked that we had fewer holding penalties than any other team that year. He also mentioned it was because they were taught the proper technique to keep their hands inside, but all rival fans heard was "Bama doesn't get called for holding."

Holding is a strange thing--there is an old saying that it occurs on literally every play (and ditto for pass interference occurring on every single passing play). I guess the question is, can a technique be taught where it appears less pronounced, and has Bama figured out that technique?

I remember seeing that ref live and wondered what the hell had just happened. Just love how he keeps inching his foot closer to the needed spot for a first down.

I'd love to see that clear video evidence. I love following along in a game thread, seeing some people cry about holding on a specific play, but not seeing any holding on the replay.

Must have. They keep their hands inside and grab the jersey where the ref can't see it and let go after their ball carrier is clear. Now that puts less pressure on the ref to call a hold because they can say they didn't see it.

In 2008, Bama got called for holding in the 4th quarter in Tiger Stadium and it nearly cost us the game.

Bama got called for holding against Auburn two years ago. Huge play, clearly holding, but I was shocked that the refs called it. Without that correct call we probable lose the game.

That Bama spot video tells you all you need to know about SEC officials. Just gotta be able to make the officials powerless to steal a game, hard to do here lately

sounds bogus, you know like the made up crap about the refs finding the "Bamp spot"...

Thats a stupid gif. Why would the opposing coaches be slipping money to the ref for an unfavorable spot? How do we even know it was Alabama's ball?

Its not just the holding....its the Bama secondary getting away with PI numerous times...escpecially # 5 of their team...he manhandles receivers and Gary says it was good coverage...our # 24 (Poole) had a lot of PIs called on him for less contact.

At least the refs in that game knew when an interception was an interception and an incomplete pass was an incomplete pass.

Its a combination of good coaching by Alabama's offensive line coach and a bunch of arse clowns on a message board that don't know the rules about what equates to holding by the offensive line.

ETA: Also, a tremendous amount of butt hurt due to the fact that Alabama has been beating the shite out of everyone for the last 7 years.

Sounds like good coaching to me.

Either way it's quite funny

Whats quite funny is nick bringing up his own question about a book during his scheduled interview the other day. When he can't control the world, the look on his face and his demeanor is quite comical. Sensitive little man; who would've known? I found it pretty funny when he said and it was an unauthorized book! Yeah nick like u would've said yes if he had asked u. Is this not quite funny? He went on to say that the author shouldn't be allowed to profit off me. Yeah like u haven't priofited off of others, kids at that.

He went on to say: There's only one expert on my life and guess who that is?
Hum, u got me there coach help me out.
The implosion in Gumpville after that first 8-4 yr will be quite funny as well.
Hey nick: how does that Texas gig look now? Sorry to hijack your holding calls bias, but when u mentioned quite funny I was watching the interview.

This is a true statement.

Watch the OL (any team). If the blockers are in position to make their block, they don't foul. It's when they get beat on the play they commit the foul. I'm certainly no fan of Bama, but they do have an excellent OL..year in and year out.

Fandom is filled with asshats who have no fricking clue what is and is not a holding foul....or a BIB foul, or PI, or....fill in the blank.

Maybe because they went over 10 games without having a holding penalty called.

the ball boy that hands him the ball is a bamp,,, or is there some other school that wears that over styleized A as their logo?

the interesting part is if you watch Gump-Refs head, he first looks behind him to the left for the down marker, then as he spots the ball he looks under his right arm for the marker.

why wouldn't you just place the ball first and then see where it is in relation to the marker..

oh because you're the Bamp-Ref,, that's why!
