I graduated a few years ago and played 3 sports.

We lifted in P.E regardless of WTF was going on and summer was dedicated solely to strength and conditioning for football.

Compare this, a senior never having lifted seriously, to my small school in east texas (close to where Sao grew up). We started lifting in 7th grade. We either ran or lifted every day of the school year from the time we were 12 til we graduated high school. At minimum we lifted 3 times a week. That's what "athletics" was for. And you had to be in athletics to participate in any of the sports. So everyone who played anything was in athletics. And I don't think we were allowed to actually PRACTICE in that time period. That was against UIL rules or some such.

...And we STILL got our asses beat in every sport. Probably because every other small school that we played was doing the exact same thing, but with better coaches/philosophy.

Yeah, he's definitely a redshirt year in the weight program project, but he went to camp, won defensive MVP, also showed well with good hands at TE, Petrino saw enough and offered him. Good enough for me.

Also, it's just White Hall H.S., a public school, I believe class AAAAA. I am not aware of a 'White Hall Christian Academy', and certain there is not one playing football.

Give this kid a couple of years under Veltkamp and he'll be fine. This is the kind of player that BP wants because he can take him and build a SEC caliber player out of him. I went to school with Kevin Williams the dt for the Vikings. When we graduated he was only about 15 lbs. heavier than this kid is. I would imagine that Sprinkle will probably concentrate on getting ready physically over the course of this year which will help as well.
