I think he is made for college basketball and has found his niche.
He is at worst a middle of the pack X's and O's guy in CBB. He's scheming and Bruce Pearl and Mike Anderson, not Pop and D'Antoni.

Back in 1983, we were at Coleman when Jeff Malone became the all time leading scorer at State. I think Bama won the game but it was a memorable moment. He still holds the record today.
1985 at The Hump, the famous ice bowl game. Snow/Ice everywhere
Wimp Sanderson was PO'd because State just opened the Hump up to anybody that could get there. Game was sold out but only about 6K were there , mostly students. It was rocking like a sellout and State won the game.
The snowball fights outside were as much fun as the game.
In 2010, my daughter and I had almost courtside tickets for State-Bama when Jarvis Varnardo broke the all time NCAA block shots record. Pretty cool to be there in person.
So yes lots of Bama-State basketball memories.

It's a great rivalry. I anticipate we'll be back to having big games with NBA players soon (next year even).

He was given the award for coaching the team...and that's the context in which I made my comment. Go check the list of names of the coaches that have won the award...I'm pretty sure you'll recognize a few of them...maybe.

I hate Bama but like Avery Johnson and I have always said he was a great hire fir the Gumps.
