Really?

Bruce Pearl is a better college coach than Avery Johnson, man. Maybe not in a few years. But he's a damn good coach and one of the better ones in the SEC. And I hate Auburn.
eta jesus I butchered this post. Fixed now

I have no problems with this. Johnson is an unknown quantity compared to Pearl. I like Johnson's upside, though.

Not a flame, but what happens in a few years? Will BP become a worse coach or AJ a better one? Both men are up there in age, will AJ suddenly "figure it out"?

I only said 'maybe not in a few years' because of the unknowns. For all I know he could come out and start recruiting like UK and make a tourney or 2 early on.
Or he could fall on his face and be gone in 3-4 years.

So your factoring all aspects of running the program not just x's and o's. Gotchya.

Never seen someone post on a subject so much while admitting they have no clue on the subject.

Bammers talking about Bruce Pearl's coaching ability is more proof of how retarded your fan base is. He is more successful than any basketball coach bammer has ever had

I don't know anything about AJ's X's and O's. He's been out of coaching for a while.

Yea I am about 100% sure he was not allowed to participate in that aspect of the organization.

Going to look a lot like Duke's.

What do you keep talking about Johnson like he had anything to do with building the Nets roster? You do understand how NBA organizations work, right?

I mean we can talk basketball all day if you'd like. Sorry I don't pretend to know how a coach will shape up when he quite literally has no experience on the college level.
Why don't you enlighten me?
I've been pretty rational on this hire for you guys and have stated multiple times I think it's the best hire Bama could have made considering UK and UF might come available.

I was very skeptical of this hire but I can tell Avery has the swagger to recruit. He's exciting! I'm going to the first game!

4 man motion offense?
Yall don't have the personnel to run that well right now IMO. Maybe a 3 man motion, which is what Duke ran for years until this past year.

Can all of you just admit you are ignorant about the NBA, read his Wikipedia page and hope he fails?
I've seen him blamed for not building the Nets roster (the GM's job), running Don Nelson's offense (which he did not like and did not run), having no interest from any NBA teams after the Brooklyn firing (agreed to a deal in principle with Atlanta, in last 2-3 for about 5 other jobs) and being a terrible NBA coach (which is, just, laughable).
Guy is a risk/reward hire. We all know and have said this. The few of us who pay attention to the NBA understand what Johnson's strengths and weaknesses were, and that he has some nice characteristics that appear as if they will translate well to college, but we don't know until we see it in action.
