I never realized how delusional bammers were about basketball until this coaching search. A mediocre program and a mediocre coach is somehow supposed to translate to greatness

What does a super shitty program and a slightly above average coach translate to?

For real. Dirk ain't walking through that door, Bama. Neither is Steve Nash or Michael Finley. We see how Avery did when he had to actually coach and build a team with the Nets.

He won with Don Nelson's players and system. He lost to an 8 seed coached by Don Nelson in the NBA playoffs coached by Don Nelson. He was fired a few years later. He then took the Nets job where he won at a clip of .350. He was fired there as well. For some reason, I am seeing a trend. He just isn't a good basketball coach.

I am guessing less than the number of shitty, ill-informed, deluded posts you create in Bama basketball threads.

This is the second Avery Johnson thread I've commented on. Sorry the truth hurts that this hire has no substance other than name.

Fact is he was handed an already built organization from a top ten coach of all time and a hall of fame owner with a top ten player of all time and a bunch of all stars and got himself fired after three years. And when he went to a team he had to build (sound familiar, Bama) he was one of the worst coaches in the NBA.

Just trying to put some facts out there for you to see.

Our coach has already proven to be able win in college without NBA level players. Avery Johnson won like 20 something games a year in the NBA without a hall of famer on the roster

And when I addressed your "facts" you disappeared for some odd reason.

If I had to guess it is because you have no idea what the frick you are talking about?

Here's your coach that was in such "high demand":

quote:

In the summer of 2008, Pearl invited high school junior Aaron Craft and members of his family to a cookout at his Knoxville home while Craft was on an unofficial visit to Tennessee. At the cookout, Pearl said that Craft wasn't allowed to be there under NCAA rules, but encouraged all those in attendance not to tell anyone about it. When the NCAA began an investigation of the affair, Pearl not only lied about the cookout, but also told Craft's father to lie as well.[9]

He may or may not be successful, I don't know. It is difficult to make a prediction solely based in a league with an entirely different set of responsibilities. What I do know, though, is that Johnson is bringing more enthusiasm and salesmanship in his first day than Grant did in 6 years. That alone has me excited.

You posted some random screen shot from Wikipedia of some arbitrary obscure stat that's probably from 2006 when he was handed a finals caliber team by a top ten all time coach
