Ppl are embarrassed that they got beat by an offense that simple.
This is exactly it though. The reality is that his offense isnt anything genious or complex. Its super super simple and he just finds the perfect people to run it.

I've also heard that you guys will come back down to earth because Marshall can't throw.
He threw pretty well against us...but then....most people did.

Any offense that solely relies on snapping the ball while the refs and defense aren't in position is by definition gimmick.
Well, to be fair, the refs are the ones that sped up the game. They were always suppose to go the same speed spotting the ball, moving the chains, getting into position, regardless of the tempo and situation in the game (ie, late in a close game). The Director of Referees has come out and said they will not allow the ball to be snapped if they are not all in position this year. He admitted it was a mistake and it will be corrected.
Its fine though, Auburn's offense is good enough to allow the refs to get set before they snap. They will show us again this year...no doubt.

Nick Marshall isn't simple. Just ignorant.

I want to konw the refs definition of "in position".
AU ran fast but we never snapped the ball before the ref allowed us to.

No one said they did......
Ahhh, I guess the reading comprehension at Auburn is not so good after all. Too bad one of those multiple schools you got into wasn't UGA...

It was a general statement, not an accusatory one.
Not surprised you thought otherwise. Most IT folks have poor social skills anyways and struggle to have a conversation.

Well, you used it in a direct rebuttal of my statement...
Anyways, what he said, was that they allowed the ball to be snapped (so Auburn was fine here) before all the officials were in position. They also sped up the pace of placing the ball, moving the chains, etc even though they are not suppose to do that...even if the offense is ready or if its late in the quarter...

Because running between the tackles and the read option 90% of the game is apparently unfair

Actually it was a rebuttal to the Director of Referees statement.

The refs actually already started this process. In the BCS game when Auburn is driving in the fourth the officials delay the snap until everyone is set. Marshall goes crazy screaming and pointing but the ref waited. A substitution would not have been possible but a well organized defensive audible would have been. That is what saban was after this summer. Time to audible.
Bert. I doubt he knows what he wants.

With the time the ref is using and the fact that our offense will be set while the def is still subbing out, it could be to our advantage to call an audible out of what the D subs in.

Gus's offense is unorthodox but not gimmicky. He uses more misdirection than most and does a really great job as a play caller. He also has had some tremendous talent to coach in his career thus far (Arkansas backfield, Cam Newton, the Robinson/Kozan/Prosch/Mason power play).
I don't think the scheme is anything amazing, but he is an outstanding play caller who uses his talent well. The hurry-up part of the scheme is not something I like in football in general, but Gus seems to use it more to keep defenses from substituting than to necessarily run a lot more plays in the game. It isn't unfair, though, it just takes away the in-game "chess match" coaching that I've always enjoyed in football.

finally a well thought out response to the question.
I agree with you although I think the chess match angle is boring. It is why I hate baseball so much. Too much strategy and substitutions I think sports are better when you let the players play. (shout out to Phil Jackson)

I agree with everything you said until this point. I think Gus is playing his own chess match with defensive coordinators.

AU was 6th in the conference is plays per game last season.
UGA ran a faster offense than Auburn last season.
