re: Auburn vs UGA yearly rivalry game going away? Hugh Freeze seems to believe so.

If those ACC teams jump to the SEC may only have 1 rivalry game a year.
We will keep Vandy lol

I expect that A&M doesn't really have any rivals that want to play them every year. Texas would be the closest, but they do everything they can to pretend we don't exist.

This would lead some credence to the Clemson/FSU rumors if true. Who knows though.

It's a damn shame. A damn shame. if this is the case they will also kill off the 3rd saturday. The powers that be (TV), which probably know zero about the SEC, are making these decisions. We're gonna kill off Auburn and UGA so Auburn can play Vandy and A&M? You're gonna kill off the ALA-UT game so Bama can play fuggin LSU and Ole miss? Every game is important but don't get me wrong, TDSOR and TSIO are special games to the fans. Special games that hold a lot of meaning and tradition. I guess that shite doesn't matter anymore though.

Great. So right when we get a coach that might be able to get us back to competing with Georgia, we won’t play them anymore.

when this expansion, division play first started Pat Dye was insistent that Auburn always play Georgia and Florida from the east.

I don't think anything has been decided, we play UGA next year, then we will see about 2025 and beyond. A lot has been changing very quickly.

the grads (at least the ones I know from both schools) ALL want to play the game each year.. not instead of Oklahoma.. in addition to Oklahoma.. don’t let anons on the internet confuse that truth..

BigBro, when did you graduate from Texas? You sound a little older than the typical me-too millenials I hear from in Austin these days.

That game was everything when I was in school, but it isn't my generation's world anymore.

The Tennessee/ Bama rivalry runs deep.
I know these days people say it doesn’t matter anymore because we have been irrelevant for so many years.

But to old guys like me it matters .

I will gladly give the Fla game lol

I don’t mind you guys as one of three if we have to. But I grew up on Bama, Auburn, Florida, the Mississippi schools and Arkansas. Flushing ALL that and getting just y’all… I dunno man. You probably know what I mean, I doubt LSU is your top pick either.

I think there’s two sets of pairs they might do for us:

OU — MIZ / UT — TAMU / LSU — ARK
or
OU — UT / MIZ — ARK / LSU — TAMU

I'm mid-90's. You remind me of my friends that actually went to school in Austin.

the 3/6 works just about perfect..
the only thing better imo is with 20 teams
and a 10 game schedule

4 divisions of 5

SWC
SEC W
SEC E
ACC

Play your division (4)
play another division (5)
play one perm (1)

^ that is perfection

This goes back to my questions earlier this year that more schedule/conference changes were coming.

Also, 9 (with divisions) creates the issue of the extra home game.

honestly.. the solution until ESPN does pay is to put Oklahoma in the East, Texas in the West.. play your division (7) + 1 across
this is actually not a bad thought

even better would be to do the divisions like this

East

1. Alabama
2. Auburn
3. Florida
4. Georgia
5. Kentucky
6. South Carolina
7. Tennessee
8. Vandy

West

1. Arkansas
2. LSU
3. Missouri
4. Mississippi
5. Mississippi State
6. Oklahoma
7. Texas
8. Texas A&M

Start with a rotating schedule that allows 1 cross division opponent

Give LSU Florida, Bana MS State and Ole Miss Vandy in year one to preserve those games and play chicken until ESPN caves

I actually love this idea - you want premium match ups? Then pay…
