I see you've backed off that national championship stuff.

Sure. Hardware can stay down the road from me in Coral Gables.

Unless I get pissed one day and decide to go get it.

Did Auburn score a TD against Michigan in the Sugar Bowl? Be careful. I was at the game and saw the winning FG kicked with 20 seconds. Should a team be voted national champions when they can't even score a touchdown in their bowl game?...So many questions.

You act like there wasn't another good team on the other side of the field in that game.

In fact, Michigan had one of the best defenses in the country that year, so its not surprise they were able to play well against the Wishbone offense in the red zone.

Got to love that 1983 team. AU had not won the SEC since 1957 and had just ended bama's 9 year streak under Bryant.

Actually we had broken the Bama winning streak in 1982.

1983 was our 2nd win in a row. In tornado like conditions. (Of course, even if there hadn't been tornado warnings that day, the wind created by Bo running by the Bama defense would have been cause to have them anyway. )

That team stared down an epic schedule that is widely recognized as one of the toughest in college football history and ran the wishbone right at and right through it all year.

Except Texas at home. They beat the shite outta your favorite team. No way auburn was the best team if they couldn't even beat them at home.

Great point.

Now why was Bama playing in the 2012 BCS Championship Game again?

Don't know much about your favorite team. Ignorance, you got it.

I was at that game. Perkins first. Alabama had the game and Auburn had to win it at the very end like they did a few games that year. Not very impressive really.

2004 Auburn did not win the BCS National Championship or the AP title. Not champions.

I know. When I said just ended, I meant before the 1983 season started.

I've watched the game film of that 1983 IB a couple of times.

As well as the Texas game. That one infuriates me. For some stupid arse reason, Dye came out throwing the ball all over the place in the first half. We had receivers so wide open it was insane. Talking no one within 15 yards of them and easy TDs, but one thing Randy Campbell couldn't do was hit the broadside of a barn and he missed all of them. In the second half, we ran right over their arse every drive but turned it over.

In his book, Dye calls it the second worst coaching job of his entire life. The worst was the 1984 IB.

Did you notice the question mark (?) at the end of my sentence?(that's a question mark, too) Would I ask the question if it was a rule? (again,...)
The real truth is: Y'all realize that no REAL national champion is gonna be held without a TD for an entire game. There doesn't have to be a rule for any sane person to know that....or a narrow-minded, biased one.

Alabama 2011. At home. And even had OT to try and score as well.

Considering that the 04 title at USC is vacated; I cannot see any reason in the world that Auburn cannot claim it as theirs in some fashion. OU never belonged in the title game that year to begin with.

The BCS National Championship is vacated. They are still AP National Champions for the 2004 season.

Maybe Auburn would've gotten a share if they hadn't struggled against Virginia Tech in the Sugar.

You can calm down quack attack. We won't be claiming 2004.

We will be claiming 1913 and 1983 though.

Probably 1993 as well, although I don't support that one.

Not sure we struggled. We led by 16 points from the first possession of the second half until the final few minutes of the game. Va Tech didn't even score until late in the 4th Q.

And they weren't national champs or even rated #1 until they beat the #1 rated team at that time.....and LSU didn't score a TD in either game, by the way.

16-13 is struggling, especially when y'all didn't even cover.
