No one has given a good reason as to why we fell so low after losing to Bama compared to auburn dropping

Based on all possible factors, the committee felt that LSU was the #24 team, not to mention they were 5-3 at the time. 2 of those wins were against JSU and USM. Not the greatest record. How high would you expect a 5-3 team to be ranked?

Based on all possible factors, the committee felt that Auburn is the #14 team.

Did you even bother to research before posting?

#13 Auburn loss 30-12 to #1 Bama
#15 Florida loss 31-13 to #14 FSU
#16 Nebraska loss 40-10 to Iowa
#17 Tennessee loss 45-34 to Vandy
#19 Boise State loss 27-20 to Air Force
#20 Houston loss 48-44 to Memphis
#22 Utah loss to #9 Colorado
#23 Washington State loss 45-17 to #5 Washington

When LSU loss to Bama and dropped from #13 to #24 after a close one, only 1 team under them loss. However, this past weekend, 6 teams under Auburn loss. They were able to sustain their position because everyone behind them loss, whereas during the Bama week, that wasn't the case for LSU.

LSU fans who want the best possible rewards and results for their team, regardless of their own personal agenda, for starters....

So you evidently only care enough to lurk on message boards to bad-mouth "your" team? I'm sure you've impressed the critics with your "commitment to excellence".

Yeah, some people are treating this rankings as if they happen in a vacuum. If you lose and no one behind you loses, you will drop more than if you lose and a bunch of teams behind you lose as well.

LSU dropping 11 spots after losing to Alabama and Auburn dropping one spot after losing to Alabama can be compared one on one. You have to take into consideration all the other wins and losses in the rankings.

I wouldn't feel too bad. After they decide 1-4 each week they get drunk and draw the rest out of a hat.

Auburn gets to get their arse kicked by OU now, LSU was the only SEC team besides Bama that could have beaten OU.

Why would we schedule our off week for week 12?

Auburn has equity with the committee by looking like a playoff team for about 7 weeks. Not saying that is a good reason but with the SEC down, AU was the only team, outside of bammer ofcourse, that looked like complete team at some point in the season. I think AU got the benefit of the doubt with the injuries. Send AU to Citrus and LSU to Outback. Send UK to Sugar and set up a Stoops bowl IMO.

Part of some ranking philosophies is not only what they've done, but where the voter expects the team to finish.

LSU had 3 losses, a bad game against FCS, an interim coach that looked like the same old LSU when playing Bama, and voters looking at Arky (who had had success against LSU the last couple years), UF, and aTm left on the schedule. There may easily have been some with the mindset that LSU gave Bama it's best shot and still lost, anticipating the potential for a post-Bama collapse losing 1+ more of the remaining schedule.

Auburn didn't fare well either, but kept the game close as well into the 2nd half in spite of a host of injuries. But, more importantly, there were no more games for them to play, so they had a more solidified position of where Auburn should be.

That's a lot of speculation on my part to give a swag at a question that no one outside the committee room really knows. Human nature and group dynamics are rarely consistent or predictable. I liked the BCS human/computer mix.
