What is this crap? Who had the time to think of this?
Our class rings aren't even that big of a deal. All they do is put them in a container in the habitat formerly occupied by the tiger formerly known as Mike the night before the ring ceremony.

Thats some sort of new bullshite. When I was at Auburn there was no such activity or tradition.

Me either. It came in box in the mail and that was it. I lost mine 10+ years ago anyway.

Spirit cooking for rings .

Adding A&M has really brought out the Aggie in all the Ag schools.
Auburn is doing rings.
State now does a Midnight Yell.
Texas A&M is Aggyfying the SEC.

What is it with Ag schools being cults?

They'll tell you the ring ceremony is recent, but Auburn students have lived with the curse of the seal forever. It's on the walking tour, the bus tour, an introductory speech, and it was even part of a slideshow at meal time.
I graduated from AU in 1983. I have never heard of any of this shite. Ever.

I went through freshmen orientation 25 years ago and it was never mentioned nor part of a slideshow.

They've decided to talk about it these days. Creating a mystique, maybe?

Seems like something the ring company came up with.
Would be my bet. Class ring sales are down in both high school and college except at schools where there is a strong ring tradition (A&M would be a good example). Trying to figure out a way to make getting a ring important....good luck with that.

I fail to see what the mascot has to do with a bunch of Yahoo's standing around a monument chanting, receiving "spirit" and removing curses.

I graduated in 1985.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Seal wasn't even there then.

So the seal has a curse and it was built in the past 30 years?
That's gay as frick. At Arkansas, they tell you not to step on the names of the class of 1896 on SrWalk or something, because they all died young.

That is dumb as hell.

Haha I knew what this was about before I clicked the thread.
Trust me, many AU people feel the same about this stupid made up tradition.
It's made even more stupid because AU decided to make only one class ring for people to buy, which is some shitty Balfour-high school looking thing that nobody buys. I'd love an AU ring if it looked cool, but they don't. Adding this witches brew ceremony founded in 2014 only adds to the total stupidity.

I'm an Auburn grad and this is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
