Then you never went to freshman orientation at Auburn.
They'll tell you the ring ceremony is recent, but Auburn students have lived with the curse of the seal forever. It's on the walking tour, the bus tour, an introductory speech, and it was even part of a slideshow at meal time.
Wait a bama fan educating me on auburn.,
No shite about the seal. They never did a ceremony when i was there. That's kind of dumb

This has something to do with Alabama, doesn't it?
If you step on the seal, you will be cursed with seven generations of Bama descendants. Unless, of course, you immediately run across campus, trespass on Jay Gouge's lawn, and take a quick plunge in his birdbath or something.
Oh, and you won't graduate, or won't graduate in four years, maybe? I don't remember exactly, but I don't see how spending an extra year or two living in a college town is really much of a curse.

Win or lose this weekend, I may porn bomb Bamaonline instead of canceling. Though I'll probably make they don't have a current card on file.

Bowl Jackson... Getting your A&M class ring (and they are special) has been a big deal for a LONG time. Finally getting to wear the same ring as my Grandad ('23 severly wounded in WW1 and WW2 vet) and Dad ('52 Artllery Korea) seemed pretty "special" to me. You don't understand it , and thats fine. I do think the ring dunk is kinda stupid, but thats new in the last 20 years. Putting your ring in a pitcher of beer, seeing how fast you can chug it, and then usually throwing up seems kinda stupid.

BAMA class ring ceremony
As part of a new tradition, UA Army ROTC students placed official student class rings for the Class of 2016 inside Denny Chimes on the UA campus at 6:31 p.m., Thursday, April 14. The rings will be removed at 6:31 p.m. Friday, April 15, before being presented to students in a ceremony. The time – 1831 in military time – symbolizes 1831, the founding year of UA.

So who is copying who? Seems like something the ring company came up with.
Walking on the shield meant you would not graduate unless you jumped into the pool. Graduates would then walk on the shield.

This is way better than the Alabama tradition of going through life toothless and illiterate!

I don't see an issue with ceremony stuff. Question though, is the API a new thing? Saw a guy at Iron Bowl with one of the sweatshirts on.
