He's a moron who doesn't understand his own offense. Everyone with half a brain knew that his offense wasn't going to do shite without a running qb.

This post is gayer than Richard Simmons with a penis in his mouth. I'm glad you had such a great day watching your team lose to their biggest rival. I hope you're excited about getting to relive the experience in a couple of weeks.

the guy who posted that in this thread was a bama fan. i'm not sure where he copied and pasted that from but i doubt he's insulted by you.

It is a famous Auburn message board post from the morning after the 2009 Iron Bowl.

I'm not saying you don't get one. I've not really followed your recruiting much since we aren't really after many of the same players (save a few, obviously). Who is the JUCO QB you guys are bringing in?

It was a low key day. Alabama was supposed to dismantle Auburn. Their Heisman candidate had a national stage to take center spotlight. But something unexpected happened.

Our tailgate was a fun morning. We hosted many Bama friends who came by. The food was fabulour, the music was toe tapping, and the weather was perfect. We went to our traditional “Tiger Walk” and cheered the team and coaches into the stadium – like gladiators inot their arena knowing a hungry, undefeated opponent was on the other side pacing and suiting up for a David and Goliath moment. But something unexpected happened.

The sea of orange filled the sun-kissed stadium. Every seat was filled. Our Eagle, Tiger, flew around the tops of our heads and landed midfield. The teams entered to thunderous applause, fanfare and frenzied fans. Bama fans wore stickers that said “Fear the shutout.” But something unexpected happened.

Auburn, fueled by the fans and faith of spirit with hard work, threw everything they had at Alabama. And for 56 minutes Auburn prevailed. The score, the stats, the noise, the pride; for 56 minutes we owned it. But something unexpected happened.

Alabama put together a successful last minute drive and scored the go ahead points. The TV announcers loved the battle for ratings. No one in the stadium moved. But something unexpected happened.

The Alabama fans stayed and “sabaned” their victory. Their band played. Their victory ended a perfect scheduled season. But something unexpected happened.

What possibly could be wrong? The Bama fans had suffered, sweated, cursed, paced and prayed for 56 torturous minutes and their team finally pulled it out and won. But what they saw next was not suppose to happen … either.

The Auburn Family stayed. They were supposed to flee in defeat but alas the opposite happened. We stayed in our seats and waited for our team to walk off the field. 80,000 family members escorted them off with thunderous applause and chants of “It’s great to be an Auburn Tiger!” The recruits stayed and watched this family of ours lift up our team who served up a whole humble pie to #2 Bama.

It reminded me of the scene in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” when the Who’s in Whoville gathered after their presents and decorations were missing but lifted their voices loudly anyway to lift up their gratitude and celebrations. For us it was about thankfulness, honor and family. For 56 minute we were fans, but as our team walked off the field for a few minutes we were all one family. It was a great feeling and we had not even won the game … on the scoreboard.

We walked out of the stadium chanting AU cheers down the ramps. Alabama fans quiet and shocked. Their Heisman candidate was disposed of. Their defense was embarrassed. Their haughtiness was silent.

I have not mentioned the crudeness and ugliness that I witnessed or was a part of from Alabama fans prior and during the game. Their reputation for being rude fans lived on – not pulling for their team and being good fans but being jerks to others – even to children. However, after the game they were silent. Eerily quiet. One would have thought they lost the game. The lack of cries of “Roll Tide” was noticeably absent.

But something happened. Auburn continued to make us proud, played their hearts out, made idiots of the sports announcers who proclaimed earlier this was a waste to play, and silenced the visiting fans.

Yes, something happened. Auburn won everything but the scoreboard. This was not supposed to happen! Alabama was not supposed to allow this!! It was just Auburn for goodness sakes, right? Wrong.

Not a perfect day but an AUsome day.

I don't think Franklin is really going to end up at QB. Hopefully we pull Jerrod Evans and throw him back there.

exactly what I was thinking. I always feel bad for people who post that without context. Most people don't know where it's from. Post had potential, and SOG blew it.

Signs of a team with new starters at QB, RB, FB, C and WR.

Your point would carry more weight if the team currently sitting first in the west with 1 conference game left to play had not started the season with exactly 3 (C, LT, TE) returning starters on offense.

Coker played A LOT, Henry starting as many games as Yeldon did.

Henry is your team right now, what happens if he goes down? You believe in Coker?

Coker did not play that much last year. Probably about the same amount of time as Johnson did for Auburn.

Not really true. While a running QB is probably best case scenario, the offense can still function very well with a QB that can throw the ball well, which Johnson hasn't done this year, which has been the real downfall. We came into the year planning to throw the ball a lot more than we have and when the lights were too bright for Johnson, I think Gus may have panicked. I truly believe he thought Johnson was all he was hyped up to be and when he wasn't, he just didn't really know what to do until he had to pull him.

We saw marked improvement under Sean White, then he got hurt. Although, Gus seems to have had a total brain lock with playcalling with White in the games, which has stymied him to an extent, but you can still tell the offense is working better with him in the game. But with Johnson, who hasn't thrown the ball well at all, and seems scared to run, it's a no win situation with him at QB against any competent defense.

I think White is our best option at QB next year. The guy is as good a passer as we've had in a long time. We beat Ark if we don't drop 8 or 9 passes in that first half. We probably beat Miss St if it wasn't his first start, and we very well would have beaten Ole Miss if he hadn't been hurt and kept him out there because we had zero confidence in Johnson. We threw him in there against uga on a leg that was maybe 60% healthy because Johnson once again cant' throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield and runs like a 240 lb vagina, and uga just blitzed every play because White had no chance to get away, and it ended in disaster and put our defense, who played really well up until that point, right back on the field.

As shitty as we've played, we lost 4 of our 5 by one score, and imo, we would have won them all had White been the starter(and of course stayed healthy) from day 1.

I think the reality for Auburn is that they had a big mess on defense, and would need the offense to carry them for at least one more year. Unfortunately, they ended up not having a viable QB for their offense. If you don't have a QB, and you don't have a defense, that usually spells trouble. It's actually amazing that they are 5-5, considering that they have problems on defense AND at QB. What should worry people more, is that even with all of their problems, they have been in a ton of close games, and lost 4 games by one possession. Without a QB. Without a defense, in the toughest division in the country.

Muschamp is improving the defense, slowly, and if the offense can recruit a QB, I think they'll be fine moving forward.

Nominate this for post of the year.

Intelligent.

Objective.

Honest.

Your point about Henry is reasonable, but you couldn't be more wrong about the QB situation.

Coker 2014: 38-59 403 yds 4 tds 7 games 0 starts

JJ 2014: 28-37 436 yds 3 tds 7 games 1 start
JJ 2013: 29-41 422 yds 6 tds 2 ints 6 games

This is Coker's second year in the Bama/Kiffin system, but it is JJ's third in the Auburn/Gus offense. During their bench time, JJ had roughly twice the game appearances, passing attempts, yards, and touchdowns as Coker. He also had a start.

As to do I trust Coker? I'll answer it another way.

Do I think Alabama would be sitting #2 in the playoff standings and leading the SEC West without Henry? Nope.

Do I think Alabama would be needing a win this weekend to get bowl eligible if they didn't have Henry? Nope.
