the fact that Yancy's way off on his claims......

Yancy's a fool....not because of his predictions or sources....but because of his evaluations. HIs predictions are almost always spot on.

We needed Tre in the worst kind of way. When Bolden leaves, we have no proven every-down type of back. I just don't think Jeff Scott can carry the load until about his Junior year.

Until Nick Parker can show us that he can hit the line with authority......he's no better than E. Davis is. Fortunately for Nick, he has time to get over his timidness.

If Mason doesn't make it in, our RB deapth chart looks like this:

1) Dyer
2) McCallebb
3) Anthony Morgan
4) Quan Bray
5) Davis Hooper
6) LaDarius Phillips

Tre Mason has to make it in.

Yancy Porter said something to the fact that Coleman and Blakely counted toward your 2011 class and because Mason qualified so late Auburn game the last spot of the 25 of last years class to someone else and he will have to greyshirt and count towards the 2012 class. That is what he is trying to say, I have no idea if it's true or not so don't shoot the messanger.

Did you GS any guys from the 32 you signed in the '10 class? Wouldn't try count against your 25 or am I making that up?

We'll just bring back Eric Smith if he doesn't get in.

He's absolutely wrong, but I won't shoot the messenger.. Even with Coleman and Blakely counting toward the 2011 class, we still have plenty of scholarship room. I researched, and even with out ENTIRE class getting in, we would still ony have around 73 scholly players. With Anthony Swain not enrolling, that's another spot left. We have plenty of room. Like I said, Mason is one of the biggest pieces (based on depth in 2011) from out last class.

Those 2 are not related. It's the 25 scholarship limit per year which is the issue, not the 85.

If Blakely counts against our 25, then he may be right. I didn't think transfers counted. However, if they let him count, they damn sure better let him play this year.

ETA: We signed 24 not counting Coleman and Blakely. Swain didn't qualify in time or is being greyshirted or is going to JUCO, depending on who you believe. That means if Coleman and Blakely count we are still at 25 including Mason. So my original position on this stands. I think it is a little wishful thinking on Porter's part.

Maybe we can get E.Smith back on the team if he signs a contract promising to only smack one bitch per week...

Whatever the case, the coaches know how vital it is to have Tre Mason there this summer. I'm 99% sure he'll be there if cleared by the NCAA.

Well, in this case he couldn't be MORE wrong.

Auburn is under the 25 for the year and WAY under the 85 total. If the Clearinghouse clears him, Mason is in... easily.

The "Auburn doesn't have room" is total bullshite and provably so.

This is probably the info Porter doesn't have or is trying not to believe. It makes sense now.

I believe someone from this class is grey shirting.. Swain perhaps, I can't remember. I remember reading it here last week. That frees up another scholly that I think some people are forgetting about.

I hope not.

Why do you think it'll happen?

AU has enough room to give Mason like five scholarships if they wanted. IF Mason isnt there it wont be due to a lack of room for him. For one, AU has plenty of room. Two, he is talented enough that you make room for him.

I think Yancey missed this one, but I have admittedly made zero phone calls or texts to check on it.

Just a bad guy feeling. From what I am reading, he is talking with Chizik already. I know he could be a huge part of our offense but he brings something that we dont need as well.
