Wait a damn minute! I thought Bammer's were 100% behind that media shitshow in 2010?

Bammers who used MSU connections. You had John Bond funneling info thru the dumbass duo of Bamascoop and Redfish with their 50 watt radio show. Then they got their buddy Ian Fitzsimmons involved. When that didn't work, they started making up tapes and trying to sell that story. The entire time someone within the SEC Office was leaking info to undermine Mike Slive. Again, that didn't work and the entire Bama Nation was being told the hammer was coming down. That is why they have such a butt hurt over anything to do with Cam.

Always been my thought. Just admit something probably went down and move on.

Why, when it's probably true that nothing happened.

This isn't really an age when you can shop for schools without getting burned. Cecil got his hand slapped when MSU sadly couldn't come up with the money, and Auburn likely took advantage of that. Now, Cam may have gotten the normal benefits from rogue boosters and the like, but not in the organized fashion people on here like to believe.

I don't have any problem admitting he probably was given money and so was his dad.

Honestly, who gives a frick? I guarantee you every SEC schools have hands changing money to players/recruits as we speak. It happens at every damn school.

It's a part of the game now. If you ain't cheatin' you ain't trying.

The SEC has turned into one shite show cheating wise... It's just who gets caught and who doesn't. Your school does it and so does mine

Yea, AU had to cheat to get a player who lived less than 1 hour and half away from campus, who was considering MSU and Kansas St.

I'm not saying Auburn forked out half a million to get Cam, but if I had to bet I'm saying money exchanged hands and if you don't think that then you don't know SEC football very well...

Do I think Auburn players/SEC players more generally get impermissible benefits? Absolutely

Do I think we paid $200k+ for a JUCO QB with a troubled past and no big program competition?

Auburn spends money on stupid shite but I don't think our AD is that stupid for that amount

Exactly. Especially when you factor in that Auburn learned of the MSU debacle very early on. I talked to Rich McGlynn about this once, and Auburn was waiting on the other shoe to drop for a long time. Hence, we were well prepared to handle it when the NCAA and media finally showed up at the door.

To be perfectly honest, it's quite possible the MSU fallout helped AU get Cam. Cam was something of tainted goods at that point, and I suspect Cecil (and probably Cam) knew they couldn't go around demanding big money with jaded MSU in the rear view.

Look, most programs today do not pay players during the recruiting process. Money is funneled to them after they enroll. This started with the Bear and was the MO for all his disciples.

Thank you for at least being honest.

And of course it was worth it, you won the NC. Anyone would be crazy not to agree.
