You got too big for your britches and got turned down by Clemsons DC, ULL’s head coach and a slew of other qualified candidates only to land on a mediocre coach that no one wants.

Meanwhile your gonna pay Gus 21 mil not to coach?

You did what you do best- fired a guy too quick and made a shitty hire.

We’re doing good son.

Your football program imploded and firing everybody but the guy that is responsible, and you are worried about Gus being fired?

Gus was getting all the money any which way you slice it.

The contract was the issue.
Gus was the fifth highest paid coach in the country.
Gus did not build the fifth best team in the country.

Coach Harsin will now have his chance.
If he wins divisions and SEC championships, Coach Harsin will be at Auburn for awhile.
If he can’t, another man will get his chance.

This is the life cycle of any Coach anywhere.
Win or go home.

Mark Richt >>>>> Gus. (No debate).

Auburn averages 8 win seasons under Gus. Mark Richt was fired for going 9-3. Highest UGA win percentage of any coach with 40 or more games.

LSU fired less after a single last second loss to Auburn.

Sometimes you get stagnant and it is time to move on.

95% of fans knew we needed to make a change.

When Gus was our coach, while he may not have been able to give us the best seasons we were hoping for, he was able to bring in top ten recruiting classes year after year.

That all changed this year. Even if Gus would have stayed, our recruiting class would have been no better than 15 in the nation. It’s clear that whatever edge he had in recruiting was gone. Recruits simply saw our mediocre results and none of the elite recruits wanted to play for Gus any longer.

The view that Gus is a high school coach who can’t adapt to the modern football age is pretty much what he will be known for. The future would have been bleak had we not fired him.

It was time for a change. Harsin brings a new energy and confidence that we haven’t seen in the Plains in many years. Most Auburn fans are excited about this.

Would you keep a coach that had this record against Big Six on the road: 1-14 ?

Nah

Gus Malzahn was a horrible coach.

0-13 against LSU, Georgia, and Alabama outside of Jordan Hare.

Biggest bowl win was the birmingham bowl.

Recruiting class was abysmal this year and he could never recruit offensive lineman.

Well, bless y’all, Aubie for making the decision. Because Gus always gave ‘Bama fans heartburn, and his unorthodox offensive play calling and back yard plays were in many ways kryptonite to Saban’s style.

You simplified our defense’s job whilst getting rid of a pretty good defensive coordinator to boot. It really doesn’t get much better.

So, as a ‘Bama fan, I am pretty excited by your hire.

My predictions are as such. The money people will be sore that they didn’t get their way. They will have a very negative eye cast towards Hairpin as well as the president and AD and will be waiting for the chance to get revenge.

The first year will be a throw away. “Just let him get settled in.” In year two there will be one or two “signature wins,” which, in hindsight, will be discovered to not be so “signature” after all. Still 0-2 against ‘Bama, but Hairpin gets a ridiculous raise and there is unfounded excitement that Auburn is going to be competing with Alabama and winning.

Year three will be “the year”, but Auburn’s record will be only okay and still no win over Alabama. The board, fully pissed, will get the website going and start activating the hangers on in the fan base. I will start hearing mid-level guys who own small businesses or who are VP’s at banks, etc. talking about how Tubbervi..., I mean, Chiz..., no, Gus...., correction, Hairpin, needs to go. The AD and the president will be quietly given non-disclosure agreements and let go to “pursue outside opportunities.” Still 0-3 against Saban.

Year four will coached on the scorching hot seat upon which pretty much every coach over the last 20 years has found himself at Auburn. After a 3 loss season to Georgia, Alabama and another to be determined team, Hairpin will take his payout into the sunset and Auburn will be paying another coaching mistress to sit at home and eat bon-bons all day.

Add to this is the fact that Saban will have won one or two more championships and he will be looking to retire soon. Auburn, hoping to snap up Saban’s replacement first, will fire Hairpin and try to hire a home run guy first. Rinse. Repeat.

So, in the end, Auburn, this Bud’s for you pal. You’ve earned our gratitude.

This is simply inaccurate.

His biggest bowl win was the Music City blowout over Purdue.

Rest of your analysis is (sadly) correct.
