^^^THIS^^^ Just because some people say "The fans "I" know didn't attend Auburn doesn't mean that the majority of Auburn fans don't have direct ties to the university. Of course there's plenty of fans that don't but the difference between the teams is that the % of Auburn fans and ties to the school are prob just as you said, a landslide.

Our bama nation includes grads and nongrads alike, so how is that snobby or pretentious? Auburn fans look at the au fans that didnt go to auburn as less of a fan than themselves, or at least that is what my understanding of "family" is from how the au posters on here have explained it to me..

The AU/Bama rivalry is full of idiotic talking points fans from both sides always spout in response to other idiotic fan talking points. The sidewalk fans ratio is just another of those IMO.

Agreed. My dad has been a hardcore AU fan for 30 plus years and he never went to AU, and for someone that is an AU grad to say he isn't as big of a fan as them is just erroneous, on all accounts.

I don't think anyone was saying that anyone who doesn't go to Auburn is any less of a fan. At least I didn't read that. The "Family" thing is just a theme meaning we stick together... as a fanbase, not just who went to school there. The whole sidewalk fan ratio discussion was a totally different discussion (I thought). I'm sure there's plenty of fans that have never even been to AU and they're no less of a fan than anyone who attended AU.
