Again with the selective years. Why not the past 40 years? Or 50 years? 50 is a nice solid number. Or better yet, since we are using whatever timeframe we want, why not the past 3 years?

Well most people here are 30 and under. I'm 28 so it works well for me. It's also a loooooong time and far more than could be considered an anomaly or just a blip on the radar.

Just saw this today on ESPN, Ziemba summed it up perfectly:

“It’s a family, a small town in Southeast Alabama, and most of the fans went to school there and graduated,” said Ziemba, who’s from Rogers, Ark. “You have a close-knit family that is diehard about its football. You want to thank them for their love and support.

“They’re the type of fans that stick with you through the 5-7 seasons, through the rough years, through the times when you’re jumping offsides too many times. They’re always with you. They’re going to love you whether you’re on top or on the bottom.

"That’s Auburn.”

I'm sorry, but the whole "most of us went to school here and graduated from here" thing is just simply not true. Also, if that is what constitutes a "family", then that is pretty snobby and pretentious IMO.

But yet the "Bama Nation" isn't snobby and pretentious?

Get over yourselves.

Most auburn fans I know did not attend auburn, and being from Montgomery, I know A LOT of AU fans."Family" is just a title that au fans use to give themselves some added self worth, to make up for their insecurities towards Bama.

I grew up close to Montgomery and I know a LOT of Auburn fans as well - that did NOT attend Auburn!

Compared to other schools, yeah it is true. Wasn't aware being a college graduate constitutes being 'snobby' or 'pretentious'

I bet good money that the % of sidewalk fans between the respective fan bases is greater for Bammer by A LANDSLIDE.

Honestly, where I grew up...the % of sidewalk fans between the respective fan bases is much greater for Auburn. I am not saying that it is that way everywhere..merely saying it IS that way where I grew up!
