This article sheds a little light on the subject.

Again, I think it is probably a non-issue. I love Pearl but doubt our basketball team will beat many more powerhouse teams.

Ever? This won't ever go away and the fines will probably increase.

They certainly knew how to keep Georgia fans off their field. Try turning that hose on your own fans and see if it doesn't work.

Don't think we have hoses inside.

Exactly. The rule serves a purpose.

The fine is just another example of NCAA bullshite MO: We will use the exorbitant fines we collect from you to fund our major and costly investigations of your minor bullshite infractions, to which you will be further fined along with scholly reductions. We just can't have players and decent human beings like AJ Green selling his jersey for a little extra spending money, oh hell no. We gonna investigate the shite outta that. Then we gonna suspend the shite outta him and fine the shite outta them.

But funding hookers, drugs, and abortions??? NCAA gonna let that ride.

NCAA is the Roger Goodell of CFB.

nice tirade but it's an sec rule not ncaa.

As the SEC's annual spring meetings came to a close here at the Sandestin Beach Hilton in Destin, Florida, one of the pieces of legislation the league passed on Friday will substantially increase the fines for fans' post-game celebrations that violate the league's on-field policy.

I was a kid, but I remember seeing shirts that said on the front "If you can't beat 'em. Hose 'em".

That had to be in the mid 80's, because i was fairly young and it was cold as frick, like today. Back before Global Warming fricked the seasons up and it got cold in November thru February intead of January-March.

Doesn't really apply, as an anecdote, I remember in the late 90s, maybe '98-'00, someone snuck their truck onto UGA's field and did donuts. It did some serious damage to the field with the drainage and sprinkler systems. It was right before the season started and I think you could still tell when they started playing. Seems like I remember seeing it on a JP game after hearing about it from one of my professors who graduated from UGA.

The reason Auburn was charged $100,000 was because it was a 2nd offense..........the first involved the field, so maybe if you stop the rushing the field, it will carry over to the floor.

But that's the point. The fine should be big enough to motivate the school administration to prevent it from happening.

Oddly enough, we don't need to use sprinklers on our basketball floor.

Serious question, how does one do that? More security? Go European soccer and put up fences? Don't really see a realistic way to stop a mob from rushing the field/court without resorting to drastic measures.
