Thanks for your interest, but will/can you shed a little light on why Jacobs is still employed at Auburn. I seriously am interested in the reason.

If you're a real Auburn fan, you should be. Y'all can do a lot better than that fool...State of Alabama folks don't need that embarrassment.

Those were some damn good Auburn teams. If AU wants to honor or recognized the achievements of those teams and the players/coaches that participated then claim it! Ten years from now no one will say shite about it, it will be recognized and accepted.

No one will care about the 1910's titles and everyone will laugh at claiming a 1993 title while on a tv and postseason ban for cheating to get the players on that team. If AU is the 1993 national champion, then so is every team who has ever gone undefeated in the regular season. Alabama: 2008 national champions!!! Suck it Florida.

I get that there is a lot of debate over titles pre-1992, but starting in 1992, CFB finally came together and decided to have a true national title game with #1 playing #2. AU agreed to this. Yet now you want to add 2 national titles from the modern era despite not even appearing in the national title game? Damn.....Bama's '41 title is laughable, but this goes beyond insanity.

I agree. That would be like "claiming" a NC when you lost your bowl game.

Jay Jacobs wants not only for Auburn to recognize NCs, he wants Auburn to claim them as well.... That way Auburn will be on the same footing as other programs that claim NCs.

According to the article, looks like Jacobs has gotten overwhelmingly postitive feedback from the fanbase. Now he's going to throw the final decision making over to the committee to either out the stamp of approval on it or not.

Seems to me if the AU fanbase, former AU coaches (Tubs) and players are in acceptance then AU should go "All In" and claim every single one of them.

I get the controversy over that one. It's not one I go around bragging about or anything, but the AP poll was by far the most respected poll at the time and they awarded the national title to Alabama.

Pretty sure he started talking about this before that game.

Now i'm sure that was his way of conceeding defeat, or some other trite remark.

From the article....

"In a debate that has raged since January, the school could decide whether to claim national titles in 1910, 1913, 1914, 1983, 1993 and 2004 in the next several weeks, athletics director Jay Jacobs told AL.com on Thursday."

What happened in January besides Auburn breaking the SEC's Championship streak?

FYI - Jay Jacobs has been slowly introducing this idea for a long, long time. The stupid AL.com writer may think it started "raging" in January - - he wrote that to sensationalize the article.

So it is “irrational” to say that the loss to FSU has fueled Auburn fan’s desire to add additional championships? There sure are a lot of Auburn fans (who used to make fun of some of Bama’s championships) that want to add their own championships now.

The article even states that the argument has “raged since January”. What’s causing the “rage”?

Nice try “little brother”. Try to keep up.
