The bigger part of this is why is LSU so scared of Bielema stealing recruits? I thought LSU had in-state prospects locked down?

Bc we fight to keep it that way obviously, just like every other program tries to do in their state.

kind of like people with money want to pay less taxes, and people with no money want them to pay more. You want a recruiting handout?
Why would we not keep your hands out of our wallet if we can. You'd do the same if anyone wanted what's in yours

IIRC, coaches from other LA schools (save for Tulane) were going to be involved in LSU's camp. LINK
quote:

“Nothing’s more important than Louisiana to us," he said, adding that the same appears true with schools such as Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana Tech, as well as lower-level programs, that will work in-state camps with LSU next month.
. . .
“I don’t know that they’re going to get out of that what they want,” Miles said of Tulane. “If you’re an in-state school, you want that prospect that just might fall out of the view of the SEC. If there’s a bunch of SEC schools in here, there’s a likelihood at some point in time they take one of their prospects.

Maybe those schools felt that getting paired up with LSU was more profitable for them than pairing with Arkansas?

I sure hope so. The series needs to be home and home again.

Ellis is actually fairly good for a player who is adjusting to being a diabetic.

The player he backs up, Donovan Wilson (Shreveport), led the SEC in interceptions last season.

some of you idiots do not understand how these camps work.

a school cannot go somewhere else and do a camp unless they partner with a school in the area (usually a smaller school that they use as the "host")

you have to set a price per person, and all of the proceeds go to the "host". that is how these camps work and why it is beneficial for both parties involved.

thanks to all the idiots saying arkansas should just host it thierselves.

A&M currently has several players from LA.

Shaan Washington, Speedy Noil, Don Wilson, Noel Ellis, Claude George (by way of Hutchinson CC), and DeShawn Capers-Smith are all in the 2-deep. That is pretty significant.

Colton Prater, Dwaine Thomas,Clyde Chriss, Clifford Chattman and Kendall Bussey could all be decent players before they leave Aggieland.

I've read that schools aren't allowed to do that. The host of the camp has to be a school from that state.

so if i'm interpreting this correctly, if the camp has to be hosted by an instate school, then the big schools could basically block any out of state school from hosting a camp by simply threatening not to invite the smaller school to their camp later on if they formed a partnership with an OOS school. LSU has always invited the smaller in state schools to their camps, which is invaluable for those schools to get free recruiting of players LSU would never offer. No school would sacrifice that to partner up with an out of state school for a one time thing.

I'm pretty sure Tulane has a camp scheduled with A&M?

and that is why Tulane isn't going to the camps that LSU host in the state of Louisiana. Which last I heard is going to be a minimum of 3. One in north Louisiana, one on LSU campus and one in NOLA at Saints complex. Tulane would be benefited more from going to those 3 camps than co-hosting with A&M, but het you make your own bed.

Tulane and A&M do have a camp scheduled, and Tulane isn't invited to any of the LSU camps

Fritz doesn't give a damn about being involved with LSU camps.

He coached at Sam (45 min from College Station) and Blinn for a few years. He is great friends with the higher ups at A&M and Sumlin.

If given a choice between hosting Sumlin or Miles in New Orleans he would pick Sumlin 10 times out of 10.

Hell if I know. You would have to ask the Tulane brass that question.

I'm sure they are getting something out of it, may still not be a good deal overall but I doubt they would do all that just to see nothing in return.

who knows? if they did agree to that, then they are not thinking about the big picture. one camp with a&M is not going to be as beneficial as going to three camps LSU hosts. Unless A&M offered to allow Tulane to come to all of their camps in Texas. Even then, how many TX recruits does Tulane expect to be able to pull?

More prestige being part of an A&M camp.
