Losing Roquan is going to be tougher than losing Sony or Chubb imo. We have talented backs who can work more as a committee to make up for their lost production.

Trenton Thompson is another big loss on the DL.

The senior DB's we lost (Sanders, Davis, fricking Parrish) were all good/decent, but many of our younger guys are far more talented and just need some seasoning.

I agree playing in the East will help us as we try to bring along younger players throughout the 1st half of the season. Just wanted to bring up that talking point everyone tried to drop about UGA losing 31 seniors, and make fun of it.

ETA: Forgot about Bellamy and Zo. They will be missed too. Zo became an outstanding overall OLB this past year, and Bellamy had a way of creating big moments. The incoming recruits, and players on campus can more than step-up, or even exceed what Zo/Bellamy did. Deandre Walker is going to be a man.

We definitely lost some good players, but we're upgrading overall talent. For reference here is who we return from last year's SEC Champs. The starting:

Offense
QB
LT (RT last year sliding to left, still a starting T)
LG
C
RG
WR (x3)
TE

Defense
DL (x2)
ILB
CB
S

Special Teams
K
KR
PR

The biggest lost that is basically irreplaceable is Roquan, and that hurts. The 2 OLB we lost have talented guys behind them that all saw action last year. Our starting S that graduated is replaced by a 5* top safety 2 years ago that played plenty last year. Same for DL, CB, RB...we're losing talented guys but have talented guys coming in. Sure chubb and sony took a ton of stats with but we've all seen Swift is capable and his backup will be the #1 RB in america in the last class.

Color me not worried about all the losses.

For sure. Tough to be “worried” with the infusion of talent coming into Athens.

RB production is replaceable, period. Roquan, however, would be a major loss for any team because of how damn good he was. I don’t know if UGA will be as good as they were last year but I’m not sure that changes where they’re heading. I think they can take a step back and still crush their schedule

I've said it even beginning last season taht we will take a step back this year, but I think 2019 and onwards we should be a playoff contender year in year out. The big question marks we have this season (DL, linebacker, youth in the secondary) will have worked itself out by 2019 and the talent we're stockpiling is just insane.

Gun to my head right now in June, I predict we win the east and lose to bama in the SECCG then win a decent bowl and finish with either 1 or 2 losses. I think in 2019 and forward we will be a legit playoff team annually.

Jimbo ahead of Kirby?
He's won a National Championship.

The one that kind of throws a red flag up to me is Mullen ahead of Malzahn. I mean, Malzahn has played for a National Championship and won 2 West titles. Granted he has not done a whole lot more than that, but it seems they are not giving him credit for that.

I wasn't a huge fan of the O hire at LSU, but I do think he gets a lot of hate leftover from his Ole Miss days. It may or may not be founded, and this year is going to go a long way to putting those concerns to rest, or reinforcing them. He's made some decent moves talent wise over the summer, and did what he needed to retain the best DC in CFB, but the Ensminger hire (on paper) is a head scratcher.

This is very fair. He is a true head scratcher and hard to figure out. It didn't help that he lost to Troy last year, but on the other hand he beat a good Auburn team. He should be given a certain measure of respect, with a lot of "wait and see" mixed in with it.

DIdn't yall lose 5 or 6 starters on defense and at least your star backs on offense. Everyone has turnover, but even talented rosters struggle to replace a lot of good players.

I believe we return more starters than over half the SEC.

While I agree that there will be a short term dropoff, didn't you replace him with the best LB in the country?

As a Bama fan, I'd gladly swap positions with you in terms of replacing defensive players. UGA is legitimately in a better position than any school in the country this year for returning/replacing talent.

Depends. Is it a career achievement award, or is it supposed to be based on the present. Kirby is head and shoulders above Jimbo right now. If Tom Osborne came back today, would he be better than Jimbo? He has 3 nattys

Nearly every year Jimbo's had has been good. He had one outlier bad season and everyone thinks he forgot how to coach.

Fisher should be above Petersen and Patterson.

Both Petersen and Patterson have been coaching in Power 5 conferences for almost 10 years and have one combined conference title between the two.

In fact, the only four coaches on that list who have won a national title as a head coach are Saban, Meyer, Swinney and Fisher.

Those should be the top four with a noticeable gap afterwards.

This entire statement is screwed up. Petersen and Patterson both have their own conference titles. Idk about Petersen, but Patterson has only been in the big12 since 2012. That’s not almost 10 years. They are both great coaches though. I always say Patterson is underrated
