There will never be another Notre Dame. They dominated in the era before widespread access to cable/satellite, and they've been irrelevant since their contract with NBC has become devalued by the amount of college football that is simultaneously broadcasted today. Recruiting for them will be a major challenge for as long as the sport is popular, as they are literally in the middle of nowhere.

Irish can suck for several decades and they still draw TV ratings.
The fact that they play marquee games and still have a brand factors in heavily, but their ratings aren't enough to draw recruits.

There is no America's team except for things like Olympic teams. CFB, NFL, and the rest are regional. It is annoying as hell when some dickwad group of fans think they worship America's team.

No. People outside of the South think one of two things about the South's domination of CFB (which Alabama epitomizes):

1) They don't care.
2) They hate us for it.

Neither of these things amount to Bama being "America's Team." Sorry, that's just ignorant.

I hated the last "America's Team".
Should Bama become the next, I won't have to change my position. I, however, don't have to worry about it.

Bama fans are truly delusional if they think the country is in love with that team.

Sounds positive, but that was direct quote from Steely Dan about writing it.

No one but your own kind supports a school with such an extensive record of cheating

You used to could find Irish fans all over the country

You still can. In fact my brother and his son are Notre Dame fans even though my sister-in-law is an FSU graduate. My brother graduated from a smaller local catholic college without a football team and my nephew went to FAU. I have a few friends and their kids are the same way. if you grew up catholic and didn't go to a college with a football team, your team was Notre Dame. I grew up liking Notre Dame in the early 70's because they owned the media even way back then. You would come home from church and watch "Notre Dame Highlights" of the previous days game right before the early NFL games. No other school had such a program and there were only a handful of college games on every Saturday.

Fact of the matter is, people in Big 10, Big 12 and Pac 12 country couldn't care less about SEC fotball. People in the Northeast don't give a shite about college football period. Nobody gives a shite about Bama or any other SEC school outside the Southeast.

I think so. The UA team inspires both bandwagon followers in their droves and hatred like few other teams.

You have zero understanding on what it takes to be America's team.
