It may be pushing the rut for them so it will be a good time to see them. Last time I saw the heard, 4-5 years ago it was like 200+ strong with a nice 6x6 bull. Why 21 south through Kingston, over the mountains and you will drop right onto the valley, turn right or left and drive til you find them.

It is, the wife is a grad student in natural resource management, and there's a strong possibility we'll end up in the Ozarks post graduation (hiring preference with Fish and WIldlife Services), hence the motivation for the trip right now.

In that case if you get the time, and I know your schedule is going to be jam packed, check out some of the nature trails and parks in the area. The Ozarks can be gorgeous and the locals love hiking, camping and that sort of thing.

I looked at cabins in Devil's Den, they're booked. I'm searching other state parks around the area, but I'm sure I'll find the same thing. I'm not used to road trip games as of yet, it appears I'm late to the game.

Porker, any opening at your B&B?

Hmm, check out some places in Rogers and Bentonville if all else fails. Its not that far of a drive from Fayetteville to there. Hopefully Porker can hook you up though.

I'll see ya there. I love Fayetteville and NWA. If you're 21 go down Dickson on Friday night. If I see another Aubie the beer is on me

Eta: I stay in Bentonville and it's not too far a drive at all. Hammontrees is my go to restaurant. Last time I was there they had a farmers market on the square in Fayetteville on Saturday morning that was cool to wake up grab a coffee, and walk the square. Bring a heavy jacket as my Alabama arse wasn't ready for how cold it can get in the stadium once that sun drops. Also a pair of sunglasses if you sit in the visitor section.

It's a damn good time

Not 21, the wife and I are closer to 30. We had careers, didn't like them, and decided to go back to school together.

Regardless, we'll still check out the bar scene. Luckily, we don't look late 20's.

Then you'll enjoy it. Totally different type of scene from Auburn It's pretty similar to Athens in my experience but the crowd is a little more chill.

Like Athens? Ruh roh, bagman might get into trouble. Maybe the wife will too.

You might try vrbo.com or airbnb as well. I just checked the Deep Woods House which is my goto recommendation, but it's filled up for all home game weekends already.

There isn't an ugly way into town up here.

Pig Trail is a good scenic route, but I-49 is pretty, too.

If you can get a hotel in the city of Fayetteville, you're doing well. We have Uber and cabs to get around. Lots of folks wind up staying in Benton County and even down in Fort Smith.

Fayetteville is kinda the midpoint between Oxford and Athens, IMO. Pretty collegey/hipster, but especially on a game weekend, a nice range of ages, and a bar for just about any taste, age-group, or scene. Except we don't really have a country-bar.

Lake Fort Smith state park is only another 20 minutes down the road from Devil's Den. They have lodging there and it is in a beautiful area of the Ozarks.

I'd take the pig trail or hwy 7 up to Harrison and through hwy 43 and Boxley and back to hwy 16 or 21 and then towards Fville.

On the way back take I-49 so you can get out of town quickly after the loss.

Good luck getting a room in town this late. Try the Rogers or Bentonville area off of I49.

If you want to be a little further out maybe look at Eureka Springs. The Holiday Inn downtown Ft. Smith isn't a bad spot either.

They're doing a frick ton of construction on that interstate (I-49) that connects all of NWA btw. Just a heads up your drive to and from fay may not be as easy as it was in the past with traffic + construction

The Pig Trail (Hwy 71) is scenic, but so is Interstate 49. I'd stick to I-49.

The Pig Trail is actually Hwy 23. Old 71 is cool too though.

The OPO and River City are 2 cool bars to hit up while in town.

I would suggest to not drive a van with a tail hanging out the back.

I wish I was also making the trip. Hope you have a great weekend.

The road is washed out post land slide at Blueberry Mountain. It was passable, but the slide has gotten worse and it is closed now.
