You are doing it all wrong.

Arkansas does not have to jump LSU, just jump Alabama. Being that Arkansas and LSU would be within 5 spots of each other, head to head is then the tie breaker. An Arkansas win sends Arkansas to Atlanta.

Jumping LSU is not what matters. Jumping Alabama is what matters and LSU being either between us and Bama or us being between LSU and Bama.

I'm less concerned with the final score than I am by the eyeball test. Arky looked completely outmatched by Bama, and didn't look a lot better than other far-inferior teams this year.

This isn't a beauty contest. If you lose against Arkansas, no one will care about your margin of victory against other teams. Both teams will be 11-1 and Arkansas would be more deserving (to represent West) than LSU.

Would they also be more deserving than Bama?

Even less likely that they jump a one loss Bama, than a one loss LSU.

Bama would be the highest ranked SEC team.

I realize how a 3-way tie works - but when you hear voters say LSU/Bama are the clear 2 best in the country, you realize that it is a beauty contest.

Arky has looked ugly in several games this year. Whether you want to admit it or not, that is the reason you are #9. Think about it - Bama has 1 loss (to #1, at home). Arky has 1 loss (to #3, on the road). On paper, those sound pretty close to each other. But in reality, Bama looks a whole lot better than Bama, which is why they're so far ahead.

We are ranked 8th, and that's because we started the season outside the top 10, then lost to Bama in our first real test of the season which dropped us. Even if we had beat Ole Miss, Vandy, and A&M by more than we did, and even if we barely lost to Bama, we would still be ranked 8th or no higher than 6th.

You can keep telling yourself over and over that there's no way Arkansas could jump Bama in the rankings, but it doesn't mean it's true.

Chances are all this discussion won't matter b/c LSU will probably beat Arkansas, but if Arkansas can pull out a win on the road @ #1 LSU, there will be a huge change in perception among voters from what it is right now. Arkansas is a different team than we were @ Bama, and voters would see that if we beat Tenn and MSU as badly or more badly than we beat USC and if we win @ LSU.

Maybe - like I said earlier, I think y'all would have to win in a blowout though. Obviously you disagree and there's really no way of ever finding out until it happens.

Don't tell LSU fans..........

They like to keep their head in the sand.

(But 99.9% of our fanbase doesn't understand either.)

This thread is irrelevant, Arky would win the SEC east, but they aren't in the same class as LSU or Bama.

Regardless of what happens, the 3 way tie breaker system is a joke, and 2 of the three teams are going to get screwed in that scenario. They need a different solution, not sure what, but the one now doesn't seem fair at all

I can't think of a better solution either, but the way it is now, it basically comes down to who started with the higher preseason ranking, which is complete bullshite.

So since we lost our first road game @ Bama with new QB and 3 new Olinemen and no running game, we should get completely screwed in a 3 way tie even if we beat a #1 LSU on the road to end the season?

Yeah, makes complete sense

Exactly and we'll always be the team to get screwed on that one. The biggest joke of all is OU being ranked ahead of us and Oregon. They lost at home to a shitty TTech team, and it wasn't as close as the final score indicated. Garbage. If they somehow make the MNC they need to disband the BCS yesterday

I don't care what you think, we have a legit shot to beat you. We'll score 20+ and if you don't you lose. Your offense is horrendous, and both your QB's blow

ETA: and our kicker doesn't miss big FG's
