I just don't see how in the hell Ark can jump LSU, IF they beat us.

Now, stay with me...

Ark beat (9) USC and gained .042 pts in the BCS.
Bama lost to LSU and lost .076 pts.
LSU currently has a whooping .241 pt lead on Ark.

LSU plays Western Kentucky & Ole Miss. Ark plays Tennessee & Miss St.

Victories over those opponents should not drastically impact postitively or negatively each teams rankings. But let just say, for the sake of argument, that those two victories push Ark slightly closer to LSU. Say from .241 to .200.

Bama only dropped .076 by losing to us. Say we double that and drop twice as far. That's .152. Still not .241 or .200.

We'll fall below Bama, but stay ahead of Ark. Which means we'll go to the SEC championship game.

We won't lose to Ark. So really all this is irrelavant.

Which means the tiebreaker is head to head LSU/Bama. LSU goes.

what it means is that it doesn't really matter if we win or not. we're not going to ATL.

If Arkansas beats LSU, Bama wouldn't deserve to be ranked ahead of either team. Who knows how it would play out though. Still have 3 weeks of football to play and you never know how the voters' perceptions will shift in that time.

I don't see us winning in BR, but if we did find a way to pull it off, we would deserve to represent the West in the SECCG over LSU and Bama. I say that because we would be the only team of the 3 that didnt lose on there home field against each other.

Well yes. We've known that for weeks.

Arkansas has no chance to win the West.

If you lose to Arky, it's a 3-way tie for the West, and the tie breaker will be BCS standings which mean Bama would almost certainly go.

LSU wins out = they go to ATL

Arky wins out, Bama beats AU = Bama to ATL

Arky wins out, AU beats Bama = Arky to ATL

Five horrible team plane crashes = Ole Miss to ATL

The only thing that would matter in terms of Arky passing LSU in the BCS would be the automatic at large bid to the Sugar Bowl. Let's say - hypothetically - that Arky beats LSU by 25 points. Arky could leapfrog LSU in the BCS and claim an auto bid to the Sugar, dropping LSU to the citrus. And it would get even crazier if Bama were to be upset by UGA/USC in the SEC title game. It's still technically possible that neither Bama nor LSU will play in BCS bowl games.

WRONG.

The tie breaker is the head-to-head matchup between the top two in the BCS at that point.

If Ark wins out they would win the west just as much as bama or lsu. It would be a 3 way tie.

If all the games had been close between the 3 teams, and all 3 teams looked impressive against all other opponents then I would agree.

But y'all got obliterated by Bama and have slept-walk through SEC bottom-feeders. I don't think y'all "deserve" anything, unless you beat LSU by 60 in Tiger Stadium.

Funny how LSU fans last season were arguing that margin of victory does not matter and that it's about whether a team finds ways to win games or not since LSU was squeaking out wins like Arkansas has done a few times this year. Arkansas has one loss just like Bama, difference is Arkansas lost on the road and Bama lost at home.

If Arkansas beats the team that beat Bama at home, all 3 teams will have one loss, and Arkansas would have had to play on the road against both teams.

Yall keep saying the margin of victory in the Ark-Bama game is the determining factor, but IMO a final regular season win @ LSU would weigh a lot heavier than the score of a game in early September.

Not me

But it's more than just simple margin of victory. I don't give Okie State any bonus points b/c they throw the ball deep in the 4th quarter already up by 5 touchdowns. But just watch the games. Arkansas has not been an impressive team to watch this year, which is why they are ranked #9 and their only loss is on the road to the #3 team in the country, while playing in the best division in CFB.

I'm less concerned with the final score than I am by the eyeball test. Arky looked completely outmatched by Bama, and didn't look a lot better than other far-inferior teams this year.
