You're entire analysis is flawed. This has nothing to do with strength of schedule. You simply used stats. You didn't factor in the actual strength of schedule.

Using your formula, if Arky would have played only teams from the SWAC, and run up the scores, they would have a much higher "strength of schedule" than LSU.

That's just retarded.

So you've compared arKansas' offensive states to their opponents' offensive stats, and LSU's offensive states to LSU's opponents' offensive stats and found arKansas to be "slightly higher".

And from this you conclude
quote:

LSU isn’t as good as everybody makes them out to be. ... Considering all of the hype you see in the media and from LSU fans

I don't think anyone has argued that LSU's offense is better than arKansas'

you found a way to rank Arky's schedule at almost the same strength as LSU's this year?

I’m not surprised by the knee jerk reaction by LSU fans. They may not want to admit it; however, the numbers speak for themselves

the computers put arkansas waaaay behind LSU right now

In part of course because LSU has several more quality wins (and no losses) and in part because they have a stronger schedule

You won't be able to find anyone credible who thinks that Arkansas had about the same schedule difficulty as LSU this year - the ooc games are the obvious difference as Arkansas played some really bad teams, and one .500 BCS opponent... whereas LSU played two ooc teams in contention to get BCS bowl bids

All of your chit is garbage.

Las Vegas believes it has to give you 14 points to even out the money. Two fricking touchdowns. Do you really think you cracked the code with the nonsense you posted.

You realize that by following your rankings (Rush, Pass, Scoring, Defense) You could have the number 1 defensive team, and teh number 1 total offensive team and give them a ranking as low as 30+...dont you? Please tell me you know how stupid your little list is..please.

You are incorrect. If there was a team ranked #1 in all offensive and defensive categories, simple logic dictates that team would also be ranked #1 overall. Also, this is an average of 4 categories, not 2.

Obviously, this is not an attempt to decode the matrix. It's merely a reflection of how each team's schedule has played out.

lets use 3 defensive stats and 1 offensive stat and do an "objective" analysis of LSU vs Arkansas.

WOAHHHHH LSU IS WAY BETTER? NO WAY!

why use 3 offensive categories and only 1 defensive category?

These are the 4 categories provided by ESPN on each team's page.

And it's pure coincidence that, in a comparison between Arkie and LSU, an Arkie fan would use a stat resource that ranks 3 offensive categories and only 1 defensive category, then average the four rankings assigning equal weight to each, thus weighing offense three times as much as defense.

Yes, by counting the obvious, clear strength of your team and arguably the weakest aspect of our team (the offenses) as three-fourths of the formula, Arkie comes out looking almost as good as LSU. Sounds like we're in trouble.

How about these numbers;

Counting only the teams the Hogs have won against;

Hog opponents are 33-55

It just so happens that the teams Arkansas has played average out to essentially the same on field performances as the teams LSU has played

Averaging the rankings is just stupid, though. Oregon is 79th in passing and 5th in rushing, so they average out to the #42 offense in the country?

LSU is the only loss to two teams that are in the Top 5, one of which DESTROYED Arkansas.

I think many of you are missing the point. Here's what he states in the OP:
quote:

This chart was created by using only the ESPN rankings of each team that both Arkansas and LSU have faced so far this season. At the end, to compare Hogs vs. LSU, I’ve essentially averaged the rankings from each team to form a strength of schedule analysis and how both LSU and Arkansas have performed in comparison. In short, this shows that Arkansas’ team ranks slightly higher vs. a slightly easier strength of schedule.

He is making a conclusion about SOS. However, his numbers have nothing whatsoever to do with SOS. They are simply stats that have not factored in the caliber of opponent on which they were derived. Thus, no reflection of SOS can be garnered.

He's either trolling, or retarded. I'm still not sure of which at this point.

Hypothetical Team A rushes for 12 zillion yards a game and scores 10 billion points a game, and hasn't allowed an opponent to gain a single yard all season, nor score a single point. Team A hasn't attempted a pass all season.

Your objective analysis of Team A

rushing: 1
scoring: 1
defense: 1
passing: 120

Average ranking: 30.75
