Really any citrus is good with it. Helps break down some of the starchiness of the grain.

Are they arming deer these days?

No more than usual.

Deer are "armed" with senses we cannot even begin to compare with as humans.

Like a sense of smell sixty times greater than our own.

A deer can see 300 times better than you can in low-light conditions- and does so in a 320 degree horizon.

If you want to talk about mechanical weaponry alone- okay; you got me there. We have them beat in the firearms & archery department.

But if you think deer are poor, disadvantaged creatures in the mold of "Bambi", you are sadly mistaken.

Outwitting a deer isn't easy- not matter what fancy weapon you are holding. They are survivors armed with some of the best natural defenses known in the animal kingdom.

For the hunters in here, what would be considered a really impressive distance to shoot a deer from. I can imagine 250 or so is good. What would be incredible but still feasible.

I dunno, shining it with a light or stacking corn and sugar cane is pretty easy.

I don't let the string go if they are beyond 35 yards. I hunt regularly with a guy who can punch the boiler room at 50+. I just don't feel comfortable at that distance.

Guys regularly take 300+ yard shots while mule deer hunting.

Spotlighting is frowned upon by the State.

There are regulations in most states that impose a distance requirement in relation to hunting over bait.

Illegal, and not always.

Not all areas work this way. And you still have to remain undetected. That's the hard part. He won't just walk past you to get to corn, or whatever other baiting products you throw at him.

Nope- there's only one thing that will make a whitetail buck a little stupid- and it's the same thing that makes most of us guys stupid. In deer form, of course.

Thanks for the info. Bow hunting seems badass. I can imagine how I'd feel after shooting a deer. I can't even guess what it's like to kill an animal that big with an arrow. I'm assuming it's a rush.
