Lol...what? I rarely post anything about Arkansas. I'm certainly not obsessed with a team who is 2-14 the last two years.

Rather, I thought the offseason hype was unjustified. Stale deflection method on your part.

If you only count "rational" discussion as what you want to hear then yes.

WTF are you talking about. I have NEVER posted a thread even remotely similar to this.

How about this....instead of trying to deflect the point in the OP by making shite up, maybe dispute my point?

Your last about Arky was in early june about baseball, seems you have quite the real estate portfolio though

I apologize to you for my accusation, I must have you confused with the creator of similar threads, since you always seem to be in threads of that nature. Further I have no interest in feeding you any longer, by addressing a point that is meaningless to the upcoming season. I do admire you trolling. Likely you will get many more bites between you and NYC Aubie pushing the post count up.

Hopefully better conditioning and depth on the line leads to better performance later in games by that unit. I will admit they struggled in closing out games last year because of it. It is not crazy to think that they take the next step though.

You continue to prove you know nothing about football. I'm not even going to address the "lost literally every player that registered a tackle" point you always bring up because the idiocy of that argument has been explained to you ad nauseam and you always just cover your eyes and ignore it.

But I'll address the running game points. First of all it's a well known fact in Arkansas that Collins beefing up to 225 didn't work at all, and he finished the season slow and worn down. That's why he cut 20lbs in the offseason and is down to 205.

And secondly, our offense isn't about MUH RUSHING YARDS, it's about clock control, taking care of the ball and keeping the defense fresh. We don't need to rush for 250 a game because our defense will keep the score low.

But let's pretend our defense is back to Petrino days and our offense DOES need to bail us out. Last year we only had 2 decent recievers, one of which is a pure possession guy and the other was a true freshman. Nobody could stretch the field to spread the defense, so boxes were stacked. This year we added a 6'2 juco guy that runs a 4.3, we have a redshirt freshman slot guy that was a 4* with an FSU offer. We have a converted QB that might be the best athlete on the team that's in his 2nd year of playing receiver and Bert said he's looked like a different player this summer. We also added 2 freshmen, one of which is 6'3 flipped from Ole Miss and looks like black Hercules. The other a 5'11 slot guy that is garnering comparisons to Joe Adams in the athleticism department.

Will all of them be good? No. But there are a shitload more of them than there were last year and all of them had good offers so the law of averages says some of them are bound to impress. Which means, with a more experienced Brandon Allen, the same o-line, NINE tight ends, the same running backs, and no retard named Jim Chaney, the offense will be able to stretch the field more.

Meaning that the load will be taken off the running game and boxes won't be as stacked.

You are right...our running game was pretty mediocre in regards to yardage. It's not just a stats game but also a game where you keep chopping at the gut like a prized fighter.

I think you'll notice we brought in a new OC along with some good WR talent.

I expect all our offensive numbers to increase

Just because something questions what you may believe doesnt make it trolling. Sorry you are mad someone has an real football discussion on here. The Arky fans spend so much time trolling they think every topic about them is trolling as well.

Its good topic. I perceived a better rush from Arky than actually occurred.

Then why do you know that stat off the top of your head? I doubt you've memorized the two-year conference win total of any other team in the league.

We were involved in some close low scoring games so rushing stats won't be that high.

We didn't get in any 42-35 shootouts where it is easy to pad rushing stats with teams running up and down the field.

Arkansas is the only team in the country to return two 1,000 yard rushers.

Sorry if we're not convinced they suck. I guess JesusQuintana knows something we don't.

interesting comparison on their run game vs other run teams

Games-Attemps-Yards-Avg per carry-TD's-Carries per game-yards per game
quote:
in August/September 5 229 1583 6.91 20 45.80 316.60
in October 3 122 488 4.00 6 40.67 162.67
in November 4 156 572 3.67 4 39.00 143.00
in December/January 1 50 191 3.82 1 50.00 191.00

So we only averaged 3.82 ypc against Texas? Hmm.. I would have guessed much higher, but it didn't keep us from winning 31-7.

I don't think our run game is unstoppable, but there are several explanations for those numbers. One is that we played all the best teams in the SEC again, including Georgia and Mizzou from the East. Also, our former OC liked to throw the ball when we're running it well, and run it when we're not. Regardless, I think our rushing game will be just fine.

Defensively, we had one star going into last season and that was Trey Flowers. Philon and Spraight became stars as the season progressed. In comparison, we like our defense better this year, so that should tell you all you need to know. No one knows if it's as good as last year's, but it won't be bad.
