Seeing as how Bielema was hired first, I doubt that. I know it bothers Auburn fans that Gus wanted the Arkansas job, but you can't always have what you want.

They share a commonality in hating Arkansas. Both say they're our "Super Bowl" and pretend their game means more to us. It's hysterical.

You know, we take pride in saying "My Coach" and how he is "Our Coach" but the truth of the matter is that most of these guys are paid very well to represent. And most of them would leave in a minute for a better paying job.
$$$ makes then somebodies coach. Gus, CBB, Les, would be gone in a heartbeat for more $$$ and a better opportunity.
Gus would leave Aubbie in a second for the right job. CBB probably would as well. Yet what one say's creates this. The drama is awesome..

We all know Gus lives rent free in Bert's mind and the rest of the pig nation and has been for some time. Until he beats AU, he'll always have to deal with pressure from a certain sect of the piggy fanbase that likes Gus more, would rather have him as HC and thinks he is a better coach.

I almost feel bad for Bert. It is obvious to anyone with 2 functioning brain cells that deep down in places they don't like to talk about Arkansas fans want Gus. He can see that they aren't over Gus and still long to be with him. It's basically the jilted lover syndrome on a much larger scale.

that's the problem. I definitely didn't want GM as our HC. Not the right time.
You would have to understand the GOB network we just got rid of a few years prior. When Nutter left, we never again need a local hero with a huge fandom built in with a power structure locally controlling the program. Gus would have brought that .. perhaps not now, but then it would have not worked at all.

Actually, Auburn is in the Hogs head coach's head.
But we didn't need him to verbalize it, it was obvious when he emptied the playbook against Auburn in a season opening blowout loss last season

Gus's shadow is suffocating Bert. It must be getting to him knowing that there is a element of his fan base that wishes they had Gus. You notice he doesn't hate MSU, Ole Miss, Bama, A&M or LSU, who some would be considered bigger rivals to the Hogs and Hog Fans. Bert is going to blow a gasket if he loses to Gus again.
