Congrats to him

Got hired by a mid-major program with no experience on his resume

Mateos was a graduate assistant at Arkansas for three seasons, the maximum allowed by the NCAA at one school, and served as the Razorbacks' interim offensive line coach for the Liberty Bowl after Sam Pittman left for Georgia.

So you're saying that Razorback experience is so bad that 3 years with them (including serving as interim line coach for a bowl) counts as no job experience?

That's pretty harsh to your own team.

Hate to see a good guy like Mateos go to a program on decline. Will probably be a shock to him coming from the well oiled machine he was at.

At least he'll be able to see first hand how LSU is being run into the ground. That'll help him moving forward.

Looks like he enjoys the same buffet as Bert. How much did he weigh when he first got to hogville?

Joking aside its not a bad landing spot for Mateos. Hopefully a year or two down in Baton Rouge will put him in a spot to land an O-line coaching gig at a Sun Belt or Conference USA team. If he does as well as he did at Arkansas he might even manage to land a spot with an SEC squad.

For LSU they pick up a grad assistant with some solid credentials since Mateos was a temporary coach during the bowl season for Arkansas. They could use the help too, while they have good talent the LSU line under performed in some big games last year. The absolutely woeful Arkansas pass rush seemed to spend more time in the LSU backfield then Fournette.

Any change in coaching that involves a coach going from Arkansas to lsu

you can stop right there.

That's automatically a coaching upgrade for lsu.

Congrats

NCAA said he couldn't stay here as a grad assistant any longer so he went to the next best place that would take him.

Arkansas has always been known as a breeding ground of great assistant coaches and successful future head coaches. It's no surprise other schools come knocking for them.

Beliema is keeping the tradition up....

Wait, ya'll hired one of our Graduate Assistants to be your O-line coach?

No idiot, if you would have read the article you would know the position he was hired for. Eric Mateos has been hired as a graduate assistant offensive line coach at LSU.

We hire head coaches for coordinator spots and look to the NFL for our assistants.

Might be time to look somewhere else then....

Better to be a once great program on a decline than.... Arkansas. At least we have a chance at being great where as you guys, well, you're a fan, you know the rest.
