Of course I am talking about Saban. Guy won nothing at Michigan State and Miami. In fact Mark Dantonio had had much more success at MSU. Guy won a lot at LSU and Bama but had number one recruiting class or close to it almost every year. His national championships were also aided by a decent amount of luck like the mulligan against LSU in 2011 and Colt McCoy's injury in the BCS championship in 2009

I said before the game that Saban is overrated as a game day coach. Great recruiter but not great on gameday.

He's great enough that you and countless others start threads about him. There's that.

2009 didn't count even before McCoy got hurt.

5 turnovers and a miracle TD and you almost lost.

Why am I dumb? I am not arguing that Saban is not a good coach. Just that he is not the greatest of all time or really close to it like some people think. For all his winning, he could easily have zero or maybe one national championship without a decent amount of luck. If he hsd zero or even one national championship, nobody would consider him a candidate for greatest coach of all time

no coach can win without good players. not to mention, a large part of a coach's job is getting great players to campus.

Saban isn't the GOAT. But at least he can always say he's the 2nd most successful coach at two separate SEC programs.

Bear Bryant was before my time. You obviously need good players to win, but a lot of coaches have won nationally championships without having the number one recruiting class every single year like Saban does
