FWIW, he used the word ranked to denote ranking within their respective conferences... not their national rankings:

Ole Miss 10th of 14 vs Ga Tech 6th of 12
MSU 9th of 14 vs Rice 1st of 14
Vanderbilt 8th of 14 vs Houston 4th of 10
A&M 7th of 14 vs Duke 2nd or 3rd of 12
UGA 5th or 6th of 14 vs Nebraska 5th of 12
LSU 5th or 6th of 14 vs Iowa 4th of 12
USC 4th of 14 vs Wisconsin 3rd of 12
Alabama 3rd of 14 vs OU 2nd of 10
MU 2nd of 14 vs OkS 2nd of 10
Auburn 1 of 14 vs FSU 1 of 12

Is that what he meant? He probably should have said that instead. At any rate, your "rankings" are a bit skewed, and highly subjective. Bama is the 3rd best team in the conference? Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are both the second best teams in the Big 12? Duke is "maybe" 2nd best in the ACC? I don't think so. Color me impressed by wins over Georgia Tech, Rice, Houston and Duke. Bowl games are glorified exhibition games, and it's sad that some fans beat their chests about some of these "big" wins.

Well, we can't play each other in bowl games unless it's the BCS Championship game

Not to worry, that changes next year.

Firstly, he used the right word, you're likely just so negatively obsessed with the SEC you were desperate to find something negative to say about them on a SEC message board. FWIW, I did my best not to make the rankings subjective. OU and Ok State were tied for second in the Big 12 if you look at their rankings in the Big 12. How would you rank them otherwise?

Duke was either second or third in the ACC depending upon whether you think winning one of the divisions or having the third best regular season record should be considered the tie breaker (one method ranks them second, the other third).

If you don't give a shite about the bowl results then don't post. Frankly most of us know teams like Rice aren't any good - it's just nice to see that verified when the 9th best SEC team takes them to the woodshed.

You sure are speaking a lot for what he said and what he meant. It doesn't matter. Nowhere in his post did he say anything about rankings within the conference. "Higher ranked teams" is what he said. Take that to mean whatever you'd like it to mean, I don't particularly care.

Rankings in college football, by their nature, are purely subjective. I'd probably just rank them how their conference ranks them. That, or I'd use the national rankings.

If I don't have the same point of view as you do, don't post? That's your solution? No thank you. I'm personally happy with teams like Rice and NIU getting put in their place. It bothers me slightly that NIU was allowed to go get stomped in a BcS bowl last year while we sat at home because of tattoos.
