I don't think this one incident was the only one. Reading between the lines, it sounds like he has made a habit of abusing his position. If it wasn't this, it would be something else. We played with fire and got burned. There is no reason to demonize JD. She was just the unfortunate one to get caught with him. She didn't get him fired, he took care of that himself. By doing so, he showed a complete lack of appreciation for the program, players, and fans.

not necessarily true. all they have to do is settle with the prostitute and reopen the job application process with the same 159 applicants. 159 people would not have got that job anyway.

I will make sure I go to Oak Cliff or Mesquite. No worries, then.

Surely you aren't serious. Why blame the woman? This apparently was not a first for BP. This is a man who thinks with the wrong head.

Not letting the young woman off easy. I have never been easy on women who "sleep their way to the top." Saw a lot of that while I was working my a$$ off on my way up. Fortunately most of those did it b/c they had no real talent and they fell rather quickly.

Initially I wanted him to stay. Then as more and more came out I knew he had to go. Jeff Long could not keep a coach that lied to him the way BP did and keep any level of respect in his program. BP fricked himself over and fricked over our program for the time being.

Now I am just curious about who we bring in.

If he's that deceitful what else would he do to endanger the program like in recruiting which could hurt the program even more.

I didn't think he should have been fired right up until Long talked about him giving her 20k. After that, it was a done deal.

If that wasn't part of the ordeal, I honestly don't believe they would have fired him.

Really??? Hiring his mistress? Lying about a motor vehicle accident? You would want to keep him after this?

I didn't say that I'd like to keep him as a coach, but I didn't think they should have gotten rid of him. I'm no Arky fan.

There definitely would have been some punishments of course, maybe a suspension for half the season. The 20k changed my opinion though.

That's exactly why LSU refused to hire him.

Me too. And for the athletes and their families, and for the student body. And especially for the Petrino family.

The Hog Nation didn't ask for this sudden yet necessary end to what might otherwise have been a dream season next year, but as the story unfolded the Razorback AD really had no good options but the one he took.

Everybody in the SEC and even the college football world loses when stuff like this explodes all over. I hope BP does some real soul searching and comes out a much better and wiser person on the other side.

In BP's firing, LSU loses the fun of competing and beating a really fierce rival coach. Part of my personal pleasure in LSU beating Arkansas was tied into knowing we also beat BP. He showed us last year how much he hates to lose to the Tigers. His tantrum helped make the win that much sweeter for me.

Yea I remember multiple comments from this guy saying he couldnt wait to show up on here and read our comments when BP was coaching the Hogs in 2012. This guy is an absolute clown. He was calling out everyone saying none of us were lawyers and we didnt know what we were talking about. Guy really didnt want to face the truth that was coming. And, no I havent seen him on any boards since the inevitable news dropped last night. Someone post a thread calling hiom. See if he answers. You know he is reading...

I felt he should have been retained as well. Not now, UA had no other choice but to cut him loose.

I wanted him to stay until I heard the rest of the story. I'm still pretty upset about the whole situation, though.

The fans are the number one reason I hate that this situation ever cropped up.

Hang in there, DC.

X1000. The fans, the athletes and their families, Petrino's family, Jessica's fiance - none of them deserve this. But Petrino left Jeff Long with no other choice. I thought from the beginning that the HR issues would get him fired, but I'm not relishing in being right. Bad deal all the way around.
