And since that time two things have happened: The existing teams have gotten noticeably better on the WEST and we added TAMU while the EAST added Mizzu. So spare me the history lesson.

The east is 13-15 against the west the last two years. Not exactly western domination.

what was Georgia's, SCAR's, and Mizzou's record vs. bama, aub, and LSU last year?

Can you see a time when the East will ever be as deep as the West?

Things change. As an LSU fan who was old enough to know what was going on in the 1990s, I can tell you that there was a time when I could not see how LSU was going to ever win a conference or national championship.

But things did change.

At this point, any SEC team that isn't winning regularly between 8-12 reg. season games could be considered a "sleeping giant." That includes a lot of teams in the East like Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and even Florida.

Mizzou is closer to being on par with A&M, Arkansas is Kentucky, Miss St is Vandy, Ole Miss is USCjr, Tennesee doesn't really belong anywhere, LSU/Auburn is UGA/Florida, Bama is in it's own tier.

UGA was 1-1, USCe was 0-0, and Mizzou was 0-1 (SECCG)

Ahem... USC didn't lose a single game any of those particular West teams... so there's that...

The only people crying for a change to divisions are fans of the West. So you added TAMU? Mizzou wasn't exactly hot dogshit coming into the SEC either.

So spare me the crying of playing in the West. Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee from 1992 to 2008 won 11 out of 17 of the SECCG. On the back end of that same stretch Kentucky was bowl eligible for 5 straight years. As a "doormat" in the East.

And as others have pointed out, the head to head among the East and West in the last couple years isn't that far apart.

So once again, talk to me when we're another 5-10 seasons down the road about changing divisions.

An Ole Miss fan crying about this is hilarious to me.

one or two 10 win seasons since the 70's. Never even made it to Championship game even in the 90s.

Yep, it is the inconsistency of some Eastern teams (especially Florida) that has created the perception you are attempting to combat. In any given year, there are at least two teams in the East that are competitive. But right now, they seem to be two different teams every year (maybe South Carolina has been the one constant, but they tanked early this year).

The ability is there, but the consistency is not for some of these teams. I expect that to change, esp. with Florida, Georgia, & Tennessee.

I would switch UK for MSU any day of the week but they are our in-state rival and we would still have to play them.

No. Let's move Auburn to the East to balance the divisions and bring back old rivalries

Take a look at the head to head records of Mizzou and aTm over the past few years (also note where most of the games were played). Your argument would be stronger in the reverse.

Plus, as has already been pointed out, the average disparity between the east and west the last couple of years has been one game per year. Western dominance is a myth. More like western slighlty-betterness.

Switching AU for UK would be great, heck for Mizzu would be good.

F the old rivalries. The old rivalries are what got us into the cross-divisional rivalry mess in the first place.

Look at BCS titles: UT has one back in 1998 and FL has two under Urban. Bama has 3, LSU 2 nd AU 1 but LSU play Bama for the Natty in 2011. That is historical not mythological.

ETA: Also I think the East West record should be vetted. Look at average ranking in the polls.

1 Florida State (46) 1-0 1456
2 Alabama (1) 1-0 1317
3 Oregon (5) 1-0 1314
4 Oklahoma (2) 1-0 1283
5 Auburn 1-0 1186
6 Georgia (2) 1-0 1114 *
7 Michigan State 1-0 1093
8 Ohio State 1-0 982
9 Texas A&M (2) 1-0 978
10 Baylor 1-0 962
11 UCLA 1-0 944
12 LSU (1) 1-0 926
13 Stanford 1-0 886
14 USC 1-0 729
15 Ole Miss 1-0 525
16 Notre Dame 1-0 519
17 Arizona State 1-0 431
18 Wisconsin 0-1 364
19 Nebraska 1-0 352
20 Kansas State 1-0 325

*1 SEC East team in the top 20

Mizzou has won 6 of the last 8 vs A&M I believe so it seems like the East got the tougher school.

TAMU has a new HC and I don't think anyone would really argue that with their coach and the upgrade in facilities that you are even in the same league as them, while in the same conference granted.
