He didn't get fired for winning 10 games a year.

He got fired for not winning a championship for 10 years.

Uh...no. We're as cool as the other side of the pillow right now. But thanks for thinking of us.

I'll be thinking of you Saturday, after the game, in the parking lot.

If Richt is coaching that game, it's a 38-14 loss and he gets fired after it,

I hate to point this out (it should be obvious), but that's speculation. I can speculate too and say we would've done much better under Richt. It's not a convincing argument either way. We'll find out soon enough whether Smart has what it takes to be competitive in the SEC, but he has two notably bad games so far in his four game tenure. I watched those games and coaching played a significant role in the disappointing performances.

How about him winning 9 games last tear with essentially this years team but slightly worse without Chubb and Lambert as QB?

No Leonard Floyd, no Theus, no legit WR like Mitchell, no Jordan Jenkins.

I'd say last year's team was significantly better.

I don't like Kirby's head coaching demeanor. He's an emotional coach and trying to hold his emotions in check wearing headphones instead of coaching his team looks and feels disheartening. Kirby wants to coach - his instincts are to coach and make defensive calls realtime. That's what he should do instead of trying to be a CEO. That's not Kirby Smart. Running up and down the sidelines screaming and yelling riding the emotional waves of the game is Kirby Smart.

IMO, we won't have a really good idea of what Smart's teams can look like until 2017 and especially 2018.

I know opposing fans don't believe this for some reason, but UGA is way down on upperclassman talent. Similar to UT a couple years ago, actually.

Except you can make a prediction on a Mark Richt led team pretty easily after his old days of 2001-2005.

If his teams have a good QB that has had experience, strong leadership, and a good (not necessarily lockdown) defense=9-11 regular season wins.

If his teams have a young and inexperienced QB or an average or worse QB starting (that's Lambert), shaky leadership, and an average or worse defense=6-8 regular season wins.

It's pretty easy, and this team has none of what I'm talking about to have a good season.

It's clear you have fond memories of Richt's old days, but they weren't returning.

Kirby knows how to recruit and coach.

I'm not so sure. Kirby is mirroring Saban's approach as a "culture coach" and that requires that everyone comply. Saban has smartly stacked the deck whereby everybody is singing off the same song sheet from the administration to the REC booster clubs, high school coaches, Bryant Bank board, business leaders, etc. but he still maintains plausible deniability. Kirby isn't going to have that or at least up to this point, the UGA network isn't playing the game yet. It will be interesting to see how he does.

We'll have to finish the debate later. You guys are laying the entire responsibility for this season, and probably the next one or two after that, on Mark Richt and his players. I watched our games and saw plenty of evidence of bad coaching, scheme, playcalling.

I guess our fans feel like it's better to throw the team under the bus than to hold the coach responsible. I've seen that turn into locker room problems. Kirby will have to deal with big morale issues before this season is over unless he figures out a way to coach up what he has. I guess he can blame it on Richt if that happens.

I'm certainly not going to panic after 4 games. I am however, disappointed in how we have looked thus far. We still seem like a Richt coached team that is missing the fire and passion. I suppose it takes a while to change a "rings collect dust culture". Kirby will need to get his own recruits before we can completely judge.

I wouldn't think so. UGA wins this weekend and they're in the driver's seat for the East. UGA loses this weekend and they're still in a position to finish where they were expected to finsih. They're playing with house money. Richt never lost fewer than 4 games with a freshman or redshirt freshman QB, but Smart is expected to go 10-2 with his players? Nah.

Another blowout and recruits will start looking elsewhere. Georgia will be stuck with Smart for 2 more years. The program will be dead. Don't believe me? Just look at Tennessee as Example A.

Sure, this could all happen. Anything else?

We are gonna have a massive talent upgrade coming soon, so I can find solace in that. Our class is good already and other recruits are gonna play next year, so its gonna get better.

Consider the QB's we will have on our roster. I bet they will be better than Muschamps. That matters.
