A few weeks ago the dawg fans were talking about UGA being the 2nd bests team in the SEC after beating UNC. They do it to themselves, and deserve all the dissapointment.

I do not recall that, as most on our board did not share in that sentiment...

You better get the right guy. Or these 9-10 win seasons won't look so bad 5 years from now

5 years! The dude has coached 4 games and now we're sweating the inevitable sub .500 seasons coming in the early 20s.

Good grief the internet era has made people lose all sense of time and perspective. It's kirby's 4th game as a head coach in his career. We have woeful talent at key positions. No experience at others. Yadda yadda yadda. Our fans predicted 9-3 this year. On second thought we may go 7-5. Who cares! That will mean next to nothing in the grand scheme of things. There is no WAY you can make even a semi-respectable opnion on a coach until at least 3 full seasons. That's not even a full recruiting cycle but it's enough to know what you're working with.

4 games people.

Georgia hasn't played well at all in one game this year. Maybe towards end of North Carolina.

They are going to get man handled this week too

People are acting like Kirby smith walked into penn state post pedophile sanctions. Georgia definitely has a competitive roster

It's too early to tell of course. But we will see

Kirby is going to do just fine. Saban lost 6 games in his first year at Alabama. The recruiting at Georgia will be fine and Kirby knows how to recruit and coach.

Yep, Smart had 8 years as a DC/Assistant Coach under Saban so he is prepared. Now whether he has the rest of what it takes to become a great coach remains to be seen but I like what I am seeing so far in terms of the comments he makes, etc.

As for the UT, we will likely lose by a couple of TD's or more depending on how well Dobbs plays. Tennessee is starting a veteran legit dual-threat QB with a solid OL and tall, athletic receivers. We are starting a Freshman QB with a mediocre OL and small, unreliable receivers; a bad combination. Plus our kicking game is the worst I have ever seen. Our DL gets very little pressure on opposing QB's and secondary is decent but not great.

Bottom line: UGA is lacking talent at some key positions so it's going to take specific quality recruiting to solve our weaknesses. Richt was good at recruiting skill players; not so much at recruiting in the trenches where it counts most.

I don't remember $aban getting totally blown out his first year.

Recruit, yes. The coaching part is yet to be seen. $aban and Smart have always had trouble with spread teams. That's not going to change. In fact $aban had so much trouble with them, he decided to ditch the ground control offense and go to more of a spread himself.

Not totally bare, but it is at certain positions. Richt stated that linemen were not priorities for him in recruiting because explosive skill players can make up for their deficiencies. Our coaches now have to deal with that. Smart might not be the answer, but if he isn't then in 3-4 years whoever we hire next will be working with a much better roster.

This

It is amazing how a real good butt kicking will clear the air, and the Ole Miss debacle was a magnificent whooping if I do say so myself. Start to finish, top to bottom, coaches, players, fan, and media all got it. All the koolaid purged from the system, All the rose color drained from the glasses. Just a clear view of who we are and what we need to do to win some games this year.

We have a new coaching staff that knows how they want the game to be played and players not familiar enough with the new scheme to be fast.

Ole Miss knocked the fight out of this group after about the second series. Just not much heart.

True freshman QB with a lot of talent but his head is still spinning with what is going on on the field.

Extra points are an adventure much less a field goal try.

Not nervous at all, just clear on what we are going through at this time.

We're resigned to the fact that this is a rebuilding year. Kirby will get his players and we'll be stronger. It just takes time.

If last Saturday is any indication, Auburn has started the transition already.

That's a bad comparison by Scoop. Saban's first year at Bama wasn't his first as a head coach. Totally different situations.

What's worse? A blowout against a top 25 team or losing to La Monroe at home?

Saban lost by 40 in his first game at Michigan State.

He also lost by 32 and 29 to Florida in his first two years at LSU.

UT: 4-0 #11

UGA: barely 3-1, no one thinks they're good and they're still the most overrated team in the country

Tennessee is more relevant than UGA is. Historically and currently.

Get off that big orange dick already you pathetic frick.

Be honest, are you upset that UGA will always be closer to relevancy than Arkansas? It's bad right now, but we know we have the brand and recruiting grounds to turn things around. Arkansas on the other hand goes 9-3 and they are hanging banners. It's all perspective if you look at the bigger picture. Irrelevancy always grasps for company.

Kirby is bringing in the best class in the history of UGA football and we're not done. Most UGA fans were ready for a bad year, because our previous coach completely mismanaged the roster. The rest of the SEC is rooting for us to fail, but we'll be back.

Have a seat at the no one gives a shite about your program table. Thanks

Tennessee is 5th in the SEC in winning pct since 1970, and UGA is 2nd. Tennessee has won 5 SEC titles since 1970 (which is 6th in SEC) and UGA has won 6.

Tennessee hasn't been consistently relevant since way before integration of SEC programs. Only in your imagination.

edit: In the SEC, Tennessee has won more than only Kentucky and Vanderbilt in the last 10 years.
