Nice. A lot of very average Matt Jones highlights before the interwebs.

He’d be even more incredible assuming he had the right coach and dedication...he’s a rare talent.

Matt Jones was a far better runner than Tim Tebow. Neither one could throw very well, but I bet Jones would even get the nod on being able to throw the ball as well. Difference is one played for a great coach and one played for a dumb arse. If Jones had played for Urban Meyer he would have won multiple Heismans, imo.

Before the interwebs? The web had been around for 10 years by that time and the internet much longer.

Also, Matt Jones was anything but average. He was very elusive and would regularly make great plays out of nothing.

Keep in mind that Jones was around the same size as Cam Newton.

Ah. Well the backfield that had mcfadden jones and hillis is still my favorite of all time

Speaking of this, I remember one game (can't remember the opponent) where Houston Nutt started (I believe it was) Hillis. He had over 100 in the first quarter, then came in McFadden who had 100 in the second quarter, then came in Jones who had 100 in the third quarter, and finally Michael Smith who had nearly 100 in the fourth.
That team was great until they played teams like USC, who kicked their arse because they were completely one dimensional.

Watching him was one of the biggest reasons I became a Hog fan. My family moved us from California (thank God) and my step dad starting following the Hogs because of our neighbor. Then Matt Jones did his thing and the rest is history.

Everything he did looked slow, but wasn't. He just looked so casual eluding defenders in the backfield. He'd run, hesitate a second, sidestep some monster, zig zag a little, dodge another, then like 'oh well, there's an open guy between 3 defenders I'll just throw there, TD. Then act like it went just as called.
His runs were just ridiculous.

Living and dying by sandlot football can be entertaining, but it’s an aggravating thing to deal with every week as a fan.

I remember him scrawny drug addict that was a wannabe thug. Medium arm and played high. He was toxic to your locker room wasn’t he?

Someone posted a graphic after the DK Metcalf incident the other day (when we found out the truth of him being an alien life form) of the 5-6 players in NFL combine history over 225 lbs that ran sub 4.4 and Matt Jones was on that list. Insane. There is no way that I’ve seen any football player at any level with longer strides that Matt Jones. How else do you run like Usain Bolt while looking like a slow-arse white baw?

Matt jones lives in my nightmares, in my dreams the wind up to throw is even slower ,and were even closer to getting to him then we were in games ,then I wake up, or it's a td for hogs and I wake up. I hated that dude

When I think of Matt Jones this instantly comes to mind...

Alright, we stopped him! shite! He still got 10 yards.
