Grant is a good defensive coach

I have seen no evidence of this while at Bama. He gets his players to play hard on defense and his offense chews clock, those are the reasons that Bama usually allows few points. Schematically his defense is terrible, also his adjustments are beyond bad.

i think I heard where NS has said he is totally behind AG. Whereas I don't think NS makes hiring and firing decisions but BB helps or hurts recruiting FB. and I think NS likes AG and the process in which he does things the right way. With that being said it is still going to be a tough decision for Battle and I am thinking he sticks around another year not that it would hurt my feelings if he is let go.

We will have 4 seniors next year and on any given day none are that effective. Hale has turned into a stud and here is hoping he stays with the team

I think he has done well at Bama save for this year, but not too surprising when too of his best players leave in the off season. Think he deserves at least one more year given the recruits he has coming in and transfers I think.

Unless you guys have a can't miss coach to hire (doubtful), your best chance of success is to give Grant one more year.

That has to be the dumbest post of all time. He has never done well and gets progressively worse.

I think I agree with what you are saying.

IMO:
1. Bama (decision makers) would love to have a winning or competitive BB program...obviously.
2. But a higher priority may be the "integrity" of the program...and if what I read is true...and Grant refuses to deal with any shady AAU people or whoever it is...imo that is a huge plus on his side to the decision makers.

Why?
1. To my simple mind...to the powers that be...the worst thing that Bama BB can do is not losing..the worst thing it could do is to bring "unnecessary" or additional scrutiny into the athletic department as a result of shady recruiting.

But there still comes a point at which a move must be made no matter how clean his program is. I just am not sure the decision makers will get to that point as soon as some of the fans would like them to.

hiring Anthony Grant had nothing to do with race. or at least it shouldn't have. at the time AG was one of the most coveted coaches to get in all of college basketball .
it just hasn't worked out. He's gotten sufficient quality players over the years to be at the top of this league.

He has wins over Greg Marshall, Shaka Smart, Bruce Pearl, Calipari, Kevin Stallings, and Steve Alford since being at Bama. The bigger problem has always been his indescribable losses to really awful teams.

The man has profoundly underachieved while at Bama, but don't be disingenuous about having never done "we'll."

Typical entitled Bama fan. This is what Grant has done while at Bama:

3 straight 20 win seasons (only 2nd time in school history), 3rd most wins in SEC play in last 6 years (only trailing Florida and Kentucky), 3 straight post season appearances (only 2nd time in school history), 3 straight winning seasons in conference play (only 2nd time in school history).

Never, just to be really clear. Are we talking NIT final - the teams that don't make the field of 68, or whatever the number is. This program is rock bottom and has been since Grant arrived. There is no way to defend him.

Oh my. Tell me about these tournaments and results. There is no way he should have been the coach for the last two seasons.

Yet the team is a train wreck right now. Missed the tournament last year, and has no shot at any postseason this year.

We don't give a shite about the past when Grant is in the top 25 nationally at over 1.8 million dollars.

If we just want to make the NIT once every few years, then stop throwing away money

I will take half the money and do just as well. Can't believe anyone would try to defend this abortion.

I respect Grant for running a clean program as much as the next guy.

But we all know we can come up with numbers to support most anything. But no one who even casually follows basketball could possibly catergorize the product on the court as anything near successful...at any point.

South Carolina, Mississippi St, Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn have experienced rock bottom since Grant has been at Bama. This ain't rock bottom.

I am ready for a change, but I cannot stand for people to make an argument based on faulty logic or ignorance. Not sure which yours is, but your insistence that Grant has never done well at Bama is patently wrong.

I think he is gone. Looking back over the past 5 years, I don't see how he can defend his body of work. We have not had a consistent offensive identity throughout the entire time he has been here, and player development clearly has not been up to par. I don't see why Alabama with as big of an athletic budget as we have can't be a consistent tournament team with the occasional Sweet 16 run. The only questions that remain are whether or not he is fired before the season is over and who will replace him.

Name when that was and I will point out the fault in your ignorance. I wish he was better, he's a sharp dresser and good guy but he has done nothing since arriving. Go.

2011 wasn't a bad year since we made the tournament.
