The Ole Miss and MSU rivalry has calmed down for the better part of this decade being that they can't field decent teams at the same time since 2000.

Your full of it

but would you consider them or state as your most hated and anticipated rival to play year in year out?

State is obviously the most traditional personally meaningful with LSU at a close second. Truthfully, OM/Arkansas seem to hate other right now more than State and LSU. I Honestly think the most heated rivalry in the entire SEC right now is Bama/LSU

Most OM fans would say that LSU would be the correct answer to this.

I can't say that I hate them, but they are certainly the most anticipated rival every year to me. In football AND baseball.

yet they don't say the same thing about you? again, never meant this as any type of flame but lsu tulane was a rivalry since the 1800's, not sure if lsu ole miss can say the same.

Go ask LSU fans about their feelings towards Ole Miss. The vast majority will tell you that they hate Ole Miss.

LSU fans could give 2 shits about Tulane athletics right now.

Tulane football hasn't been shite since Tommy Bowden left, baseball has been meh post Micah Owings, basketball hasn't done anything since the early 90's.

The current state of Tulane athletics = fail

So you agree that OM/LSU has hatred on both sides and is highly anticipated, yet that doesn't constitute a rivalry?

Even though your definition of a rivalry includes hatred from both sides and high anticipation?

I never said lsu and ole miss were not rivals. but, most schools have one rivalry that stands above all others. normally instate (not always, OSU vs Mich for example) if you asked fans from both schools who they disliked and wanted to beat more than any other school they would without hesitation name each other. that would be my definition of a traditional rival.

I will flip a s*** if they ever get rid of an annual Third Saturday showdown.

Although it would be cool if we could play Auburn every year like we used too.

alabama and UT are are rivals, but auburn is our traditional rival. didn't mean to offend anyone but tulane is your traditional rival. Seeing as how you would still play ole miss every season if the constant out of division game was taken away I really don't see how it is relevant to this thread.

Ole Miss is indeed a traditional rival of LSU. You can't limit a rival to just one, just because it doesn't fit your argument. Tulane was a rival, Ole Miss still is, although the rivalry has waxed and waned somewhat over the years. A traditional rival doesn't have to be limited to instate rivalries by any rule of which I am aware.

I actually miss the old method of having two out-of-division games every year. Since Vandy was our second team, the Tide was here in Nashville every other year. Good times.

That is one of the thing that makes college ball. The rivalries. Don't need to screw up a good thing. Just because some schools don't have legitimate ones shouldn't cost the ones that do.

I've solved this damn problem years ago. Put Alabama and Auburn in the East and Vandy and Kentucky in the west. There you go, now you can have all the "traditional rivalries" you want. We LSU fans would love that.

Moreover, the Big 12 did away with the annual Oklahoma/Nebraska game when it split divisions. I think the Big 12 is a step ahead of the SEC on this.

Auburn and Alabama have played fewer times (76) than Alabama and Tennessee (91) or Mississippi State (93). There was a 41 year gap between 1907 and 1948 in the Alabama-Auburn rivalry. They played 12 times between 1893 and 1907. By SEC terms, I suppose the Auburn-Alabama rivalry is a relatively young one.

LSU has played Ole Miss 97 times and Tulane 97 times. I am not sure how Tulane would qualify as a traditional rival but Ole Miss wouldn't.

Because he made a stupid argument and then attempted to back it up with "facts" instead of admitting that he is wrong.
