It at least did in 2015 (by a lot).
Womens CWS that year was Michigan vs Florida

Current enrollment of those schools= 97,000

UVA vs Vandy was the mens

Current enrollment of those schools= 35,000

So you add that for alumni, and that is a monumental difference in terms of fans of those respective schools. I think that makes a huge differnce in the ratings for niche sports.

For example, the 2009 CWS of LSU vs Texas drew 2,500,000 viewers in game 1, vs 1,412,000 viewers that your womens game referenced drew

These women's sports averaged more in attendance in 2016 than the above numbers.

1 South Carolina Basketball 14,364
2 Alabama Gymnastics 12,647
3 Tennessee Basketball 10,412
4 Georgia Gymnastics 10,055
5 LSU Gymnastics 9,906
6 Florida Gymnastics 7,433
7 Kentucky Basketball 6,454
8 Mississippi St. Basketball 5,162
9 Texas A&M Basketball 4,867

Baseball is not part of a BIG anything, it doesn't draw and doesn't make money.
Do you realize how averages work?

On average attendance, baseball is the 3rd biggest sport in the SEC

LSU gymnastics outdrew LSU men's basketball as well - I guess you're saying men's basketball isn't a big 3?

It only draws and makes money if you don't suck. Like anything else.

Quit sucking.

You mean the highest attendance numbers of one sport were higher than the average attendance numbers of another?

Crazy.

On average, in the SEC, Baseball is the 3rd biggest sport.

Certain places in the league it isn't, but on average it is.

It certainly isn't as popular on average as the other 2, and there is a wide gap, but it is clearly #3.

I mean culturally speaking in the American Southeast those are CLEARLY the Big 3

If you head to the Midwest you could make an argument for Hockey but round here it's football, basketball, baseball

I have dreams of soccer one day making it a Big 4 around here but that would take some retooling of Title IX which is a loooooooooooong shot

LSU would be freaking legit. For whatever reason, we have a very good youth soccer program. But they all leave for maryland and UNC and such.

One of our local high schools won the national title for soccer last year.

The Catholic League in New Orleans alone produces enough talent to field a competitive college team.

College baseball has a very small following and is great for losing money.

You couldn't be more wrong.

The thing that hurts college baseball so much more than football and basketball is that there is an alternate path to the highest league. In addition to the fact that the gap between MLB and college is much larger than Football and Basketball's respective league. Plus the quality of the product MLB produces shits on every other domestic league, pro or otherwise. PGA might be the only other league in the same ballpark.

This is changing.

Over 50% of the MLB played college ball.

Huge shift in the last 20 years

ETA: In the past draft, 70% of drafted players attended college

I think we're the only SEC school that has (women's) soccer.
