So a coach that couldn't beat SMU and Navy is going to certainly lead players that lost to Kansas to a 9-3 or better record?

The same coach beat FSU with Houston and finished 8th......

You are being little brother to the max

UT was 5-7 last year. To finished ranked at the bottom of the rankings, they need to be 8-5. They hired the hottest coach in the nation from last year. It is very logical to have them ranked

It’s the first time the conference has placed only one team in the top 10 of the preseason coaches poll since 1991.
Considering how only one team was better than barely mediocre last year, I think this is entirely appopriate.

2016 was the first time since 2000 (and only the 3rd time since 1985) that only one SEC school finished with 10 or more wins.

Lmaoooooo just realized UT is ranked and Aggy isn't. Add that to LSU being the #2 SEC team and this is the GOAT poll.

That's 10 consecutive years spending at least one week as #1.

But that's not true at all, the lowest ranked Big 12 team in the final coaches poll last year had to be 10-3

Nebraska (Big 10 I know) finished 9-4 last year with back to back losses and they were the next in line to be ranked.

AU finished 23 at 8-5 while ending the season on back to back losses

If UT finished 8-5 with a bowl win to end the year, they will stand a great shot to be ranked

It's '17. It's our year. No one knows it yet.

-Notable by its absence from the poll is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish, coming off a disappointing 4-8 season, received the fifth most points among others receiving votes but will open the campaign outside the Top 25 for the first time since 2010.

Guess they figured they couldn't rank both Texas and Notre Dame with a straight face.

You stated something that was wrong to make a point

And Nebraska isn't in the Big 12, they are in a conference ranked 4 spots above the Big 12 in strength

Again, all of the facts support what I said and go against your opinion

They are in the number 1 ranked power conference not the 5th ranked power conference

Fact: 10-3 was the worst record you could have in the big 12 and remain ranked by coaches last year

I'll go one step further

No team has EVER finished ranked in the coaches poll in the modern big 12 with a record of 8-5, and only 1 team has ever gotten in with a 9 win season

Auburn right where I want them. I prefer 14, but 13 is ok too

I'll never understand that Aub mentality. And it permeates the whole fan base for some reason

it should be the mentality for fans of all teams. Playing the underdog role is something anyone can embrace, and it makes you play better and harder. If you come into the season ranked high, undeservedly so, and are perceived better than all your opponents, the pressure is on you. If you're not given much of a chance against all opponents, or an even chance, there is much less pressure and you can just pin your ears back and play ball.
