The Big 6 all listed. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

13 is reasonable for Auburn. Though, I wouldn't mind them being ranked lower.

This is one of the better preseason polls I've seen in a long time.

I like the Clemson hype. It'll help AU jump way up after week 2.

Because a pre-season poll doesn't mean a damn thing.

pstttttt.........polls don't have any weight in the outcome of a NC now.

You have to be in the top 4 to get in the playoffs, so yes they still do.

psttttt.........the selection committee uses the polls as a baseline for their rankings.

It's not hype.
On the plus side, y'all won't drop very far after losing to a top 5 team.

They are looking for Conference Champions. Win the SEC and you are in. frick a pre-season poll.
quote:
What criteria does the selection committee use to rank the teams? The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results and comparison of results against common opponents to decide among teams that are comparable. The committee is comprised of experts in college football, and they use their expertise in the deliberations.
Selection committee members examine statistical data, and they also review a significant amount of game video. CFP has retained a firm, SportSource Analytics, to provide the statistical information for the committee’s use. This platform allows the committee members to compare teams on every possible level. Each member evaluates the data at hand, and then the individuals produce a group decision through the seven rounds of voting.

I don't see anything about a poll even mentioned.

-The SEC leads the power leagues with six ranked teams.
-Only the Crimson Tide, however, will start in the top 10.
-No. 12 LSU is the next highest ranked.
-It’s the first time the conference has placed only one team in the top 10 of the preseason coaches poll since 1991.
-The Big 12 and ACC will begin with five teams in Top 25 apiece.
-The Big Ten has four teams in the poll, all in the top 10.
-In addition to the Buckeyes, Penn State opens at No. 6, followed by No. 9 Michigan and No. 10 Wisconsin.
-The Pac-12 has four in the poll, led by USC and No. 7 Washington.
-Notable by its absence from the poll is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish, coming off a disappointing 4-8 season, received the fifth most points among others receiving votes but will open the campaign outside the Top 25 for the first time since 2010.

Hogs coming in at 38. Looks like I need to run over to the local printer after work to get those t-shirts printed up.
