I've been to uptown and some of those jazz clubs outside of bourbon full of hipsters and odd white people. It was cool. Although I wouldn't want to go back.

Damn, why are people from New Orleans so damn sensitive?

New Orleans is a great city. It's one of my favorite cities in the US, but it's not for everyone.

It does smell. Of course, so does every port city in the US -- especially those in a humid subtropical climate.

It does have "too much going on" for some people. It's a little jarring to those not used to the unique flavor of New Orleans. It's unlike any other city in the US.

And Amari is from Miami. I cannot think of another major city in the US that fits the description of "polar opposite of New Orleans" better than Miami.

Plastic versus Plaster.
New vs. Old
Jewish vs. French

Point is, you live in a great city, not everyone has to love it the way you do.

The people who live there don't even know it smells like sewage because they are immune to it.

You can really only know what your house smells like until you take a vacation. When you first re-enter after a week or so you get the true essence.

Its not confined to only the French quarter either its also not only confined to N.O. its pretty much most of South Louisiana. Its awful.

One of my good buddies is from there. His fam has a place on St. Charles during Mardi Gras. It's very good fun. All those parade after parties are wild

I love New Orleans but I guess Amari doesn't

I mean it's a bit rude to say that to the host of your bowl game but some 20 year old kid isn't a fan of your city

who gives a shite?

Are you REALLY incapable of acknowledging the bad odor that emanates from the New Orleans area?

Who is the sandy Virginia in this scenario?

we know that and that's the point. We do not understand people who cannot embrace the uniqueness and charm of the city. We really can't.

I've been in san Antonio for a year and all I can think about is how I can get back to Nola. I hate everywhere else but that city.

It was probably an unexpectedly honest answer to a fairly stupid question.

"Hey, Amari! What do you think of New Orleans? Bet you love the French Quarter, right? Isn't New Orleans just the greatest?!"

My few cousins friends and relatives that remain there, very few who live in city limits, very rarely if ever go to Bourbon street and leave the week of Mardi Gras unless they have a child who is in on of the last balls, Comus Proteus or Rex.

I remember my cousin got us lost in CBC, when we said we though you lived here she said "You could pay me enough to come down here to this tourist crap" She was in her twenties and had been to Bourbon street once before in her life. She lived a few miles away by Tulane.

I don't see Chicago in the top 30. This 'list' is a freaking joke.

Meh, I've lived in cities all over the western hemisphere. Only city I absolutely detest in Miami. I'm never living there again. I hated every fricking moment in that city.

Well, I enjoyed my dragon boat excursions, but only because I was finally out of that city.

You're knighting pretty hard for New Orleans. It's kind of sad. It's like its some great point of pride for the posters on this site. All my buddies from Louisiana hate New Orleans outside of a few times a year. Then again they don't have to feign giving a shite because some dern gumps and Barners on a website were bad mouthing loozyana
