Completely agree. I was worried about Arky after they didn't get Les because we weren't hearing much about Arkansas making any moves to make a hire. This hire comes as a surprise to me, just because there wasn't much being leaked other than Peterson who I knew was not going to be the next head coach.

Seems like a lot of people think he's a good coach, but wonder if he'll be able to succeed at Arky due to 1) he runs vastly different schemes than Petrino did, 2) Arky doesn't have the right type of players to run Bielema's system and 3) the SEC is an unforgiving conference, which might not allow him to build enough momentum to recruit high level players.

Basically, I think the first 2 (maybe 3) years are gonna be really ugly for him. If he can recruit at a high level despite a lack of success on the field, he'll likely turn things around in a big way and he could end up being a great coach.

We have young talent on the line and in the backfield. If he will use our QB's, that's our deepest and most talented position right now. He could do ok if he hires a good offensive guy and keeps his eyes on the defense.

Much, much, much better hire than Auburn.

It's a damn good hire. I really like the way Wisconsin plays football. They're going to be better than they were under Petrino.

Eventually.

Book it.

I think it's a good hire, it will take a few years to implement his system successfully. However I can see him getting some big country boys from Arkansas to be future nfl linemen

Between Miles, Bielema, Malzahn (he did a great job at ASU), Sumlin (getting a huge help in building a program with JF), Freeze, Mullens, and Saban, it is scary how many good football coaches are in the Western division of the SEC. Get ready folks, every week in the SEC is going to be a war in the upcoming years.

Great hire. So is the hire of Charlie Strong to UT that is speculated at this point.

Agreed. Western division is going to cannabalize itself in some ways. The SEC is incredibly strong right now. Like nothing I've ever seen.

LSU, Arky, and UA will grind the shite out of A&M and AU over the next few years with the coaches currently in place. Big boy football wins.

Really really good hire, Hogs.

To the Arkansas fans: you thought Les Miles vs Petrino/Nutt were some classics? Prepare yourselves. History alone tells us how good these football games are year in and year out. We are about to see some of the best match-ups from LSU and Arkansas we may ever witness in our lifetime. I'm not talking years down the road, I'm saying as soon as next year.

Dude the more I think about it the more perfect it seems. I see big assed O-lineman with a McFadden type in the backfield . . the way Arkansas football is supposed to be.

I think I just came.

I'm not kidding. I don't follow Wisconsin but when I caught them on TV I almost always watched it because I'm such a fan of that style.

Which is why I enjoyed UA football so much in the past five years. This year, not so much, but we FINALLY REMEMBERED WHO THE frick WE WERE IN THE 2ND HALF AGAINST UGA.

I've always liked smashmouth football. But the air assault Petrino brought in took us to heights Arky fans had never seen so everyone fell in love with it. I'll be happy to have an O-line worth a hill of beans again and a defense that will actually do their job. Knile Davis is coming back next year and will actually have holes to run through. Hot damn I'm excited already!

Bielema is a defensive coach. Was LBers coach at Iowa, co-DC at K State before moving over as Alvarez's DC at Wisconsin.

The offensive guru was Paul Chryst.

I think the potential is there to be successful EVENTUALLY. He is a very good coach.

However, in the sort term, it's going to be rough. The players Petrino recruited are the opposite of what he needs. The existing players will have to learn new schemes that don't necessarily fit their builds or skill-sets. The recruiting is a SHAMBLES right now and he knows nothing about recruiting the south or Texas and doesn't have contacts down hrrr.

It's going to start with hiring assistants who can recruit the region. That Priority A #1 because they have to start over from ground level in an area of the country where the HC is no help.

The next thing is going to be patience from Arkansas fans. He has to completely re-tool. The first couple of years are going to suck.

I'm coming around big time. After the initial shock wore off and I took some time to evaluate it and get some more info on him.

I'm loving the hire!!!! He might just be what we need to get over the hump. His strengths are what have been some of the weaknesses in the program during my lifetime.

It just made Mullen's job a shite load tougher.
