a lot of Great great individual players. So how many Heismans next to those other trophys?? Joe Willy got one? The Snake? Just wondering. Please desist from the " were a team" and the ever popular " we collect NC trophy's" because some teams..umm DO both. Thought I would stir things up on the Bama Rant.

Y'all are at the top right now for sure but have a long way to go to ever do what we have done so don't count us out just yet.

Once Tebow leaves, Urban will be sure to follow.

Our absolute best players were either on defense and/or did not play skill positions.

Brantley has as much opportunity to play this year as McElroy did last year. Who've you got after him?

USC is ok to talk smac...I mean you do have a murderer (allegdly) and a few others with hardware. But then again you play in the P(ussy)-10 where records are as easy as killing people and getting away with it.

The entire state of Florida is delusional to think that after Tebow leaves (AKA Urban's pride and joy), that Meyer will stick around for the long run.

As an LSU fan, let me help out here. When you have a machine like Bama football was in the sixties and seventies, who cares who wins the Heisman? I wouldn't trade one national championship for ten heismans. Those Bama teams were flat out scary. When Florida actually has a "tradition," florida fan can talk.

"Tradition" is a two-sided coin at Bama. It also included 150 scholarships of which about only 2/3 were football-related, slush/personal funds for players and national championships awarded by everyone from Golden Flake to the local Tuscaloosa Ford dealership.

So everyone else competed on Mars?

Everyone worth their salt did what it took to win back in the day. We did it better than most, apparently.

I went to a UF site 'cause I wanted to see exactly how "stockpiled" UF is at QB after Tebow.

1. Brantley - could be a great one.
2. Jordan Reed (FR)- 4 stars out of Connecticut - Who knows how a CT kid will do in the Florida heat and humidity?
3. Andrew Blaylock (RS Jr) - 6-0, 210 - Who?

College football is way better and more competitive now than it was back in the day. Most elite programs would beat the shite out of teams from 20-30 years ago.

Actually, in the "glory years" as you called them, Alabama just played solid football at every position. It was nothing fancy, just blocking and tackling, football fundamentals.

The same will be true 20-30 years from now. However, I'm pretty sure the 2008 Florida Gators will not be playing the 1988 ND Fighting Irish anytime in the future.

CUM may be coaching another edition of ND soon enough, though.

I can not see players becoming that much more bigger, faster, and stronger than they already are.

I don't know who said it, but that famous line pretty much tells it -

"Bear could take his players and beat yours, and take yours and beat his."

Wallace Wade (61-13-3) and Frank Thomas (115-24-7) were pretty good, too!
