Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda aren't the only LSU coaches expected to be on the sideline during games.

Every other coach will be on the field, too.

In a depth chart released Monday, LSU's entire staff — all nine assistant coaches — are listed as on the field. LSU coach Les Miles later confirmed that all coaches are supposed to be on the sideline during games — a rarity in the college game.

say what ???? I listened to Les today on radio say that his coaches wanted to be on the field so he is going to give it a try. Jr staff will be up top and if it doesn't seem to work out he will make changes

Changing things up may be a good idea. I know Les is feeling the pressure to get LSU to that 15 conference win mark. This is an interesting move.

why would this decision make him a idiot ? I am all for what works and it is working until it is not working. Come back my way after the first 6 games and we will check out how the season is going and decide how my idiot coach with the second best big game record in the SEC is doing.

yea I know that Arky has beat us 2 in a row and Bama has beat us 5 in a row - not sure as this new season starts if those 2 facts mean anything

Nobody said that the coach's box would be unoccupied

Is LSU needing money so bad that they're pawning off the coaches box?

But you understand how science works right?

You don't just throw darts at the wall and hope to get lucky. You get the best playcallers up in the box and have them relay weaknesses and rely on them for innovation.

Are you suggesting that intangibles matter more than reality?

First game LSU loses, the Les haters are going to have a field day with this decision.

He said that they did it while he was at Colorado but in defending what Les is doing I also agree with above poster that he is shaking the trees. Les is a game planner and not a game day coach. All Tigers remember the 2011 NC Bama game and he stayed with the game plan. That is his flaw to the point of being just crazy stupid. They have a set in stone 1st half plan that is put in place and will not be changed.

The second half is pretty much a repeat unless we have a 2 score lead and it goes to watching paint dry on O.

There is a funny aspect to Les that most of you don't know. There has only been a few games that get a little out of touch on the score board and Lsu does have 4 and 5 WR sets in the game plan. They do come out smoking at times and Lsu can play a wide open O. they really can - Les just does let it out of the box very often

Les is a control the game guy and loves to play the games tight and win in the 4th. To do what Les loves to do you need great D and great O-line play. Problem - Bama and Arky have this all figured out. Ole Miss has Lsu and Bama figured out - let it fly and go for it for 60 minutes.

This news from Les is huge - it means he is shaking up his on line of thought and if he is going to listen to the young turks on the field during the game - watch out.

Geaux Tigers

If like Boddy did at FSU - Les takes off the headset OMG

I wouldn't exactly call this a science. There is no definite answer, just likelyhood/opinion.

You can call it a gamble if you want.

I doubt Les threw a dart labeled as every coach at the board with black spaces meaning sideline and red spaces box... I know you didn't mean this literally but it is not random I promise you.
It's a calculated decision on his part, right or wrong is yet to be determined. It's definitely not the norm

I'd prefer to be in the box, but if the coaches feel they can tell what is going on on the field with others relaying what they see from the box than we will see I guess

we played better with cam on the field. Now it was against a shite team but none the less it was better with him down low.

I'm fine with aranda being on the field as well.

It could work very well if the jr staff can ID weaknesses. I'm guessing Les has had them put through the ringer in making correct calls off video, so he trust that they can handle this.

I like having every coach with his group and Cam there to talk to b. Harris on the field instead of by phone in a loud arse stadium.

Calculated on what? Not facts...not sure what to tell you.

You should have your best playcallers in the box, best coaches on the field. I mean you could have monkeys up there and call the same terrible plays over and over again if you out talent everyone.

core of what Les was talking about today was the coaches wanted to be allowed to pick player rotation on the fly - I am cool with that

Lsu goes 15-0 this year - guess what - I would guess Les would be considered a trend starter with the staff on the field

Arky fans - forget about Lsu and tell your staff try to have a winning record after the first 6 games !!
