I just tend to think he's going to be a top target for Indiana in less than a year and he's ok waiting that out.
Oh dear God he even looks like Crean.

Auburn sure is.

fricking retard. If his dream job is Indiana then he can negotiate no buyout and so if he lands the Indiana job next year he can move with no penalty.
I don't think that was necessary. Maybe you should take a little walk and cool down

It will take a blue blood for Shaka to leave VCU. That guy is loyal as frick.
Just going off of what some of the rumblings elsewhere. It isn't like I have any real sources to go off of.
Bama seems willing to drop a lot of money to hire a big name guy, so I am willing to sit back and hope it works out.
Bama might not be a top 10 job, but becoming one of the top 5-10 highest paid coaches has to be enticing for some.
The gap is getting larger between the power 5 and the other conferences. Some of these coaches may be beginning to worry about being left out.

This OR Saban could give a first-hand account that the sky is the limit if you win and win BIG at Bama. Does anyone know if Marshall is into statues and gaudy shite like that?
Or...Saban can tell him that no matter how many championships you bring to the fan base, if you have an "off year" and lose once or twice; the fan base can become hysterical. Hasn't Saban complained about how he is treated by some UA fans?

So you would gladly take him for a one year rental? Jesus

I don't understand why they keep bringing him up
Because he'll be the other big money guy in town. Who better to show you around than the guy that has a similar job that's been making +$4 mil a year since 2007. Whoever comes will probably be Saban's neighbor til Saban retires.

Mark Few must be one of the outliers. He could have bounced anytime he wanted.

No, he hasn't. He thinks we tend to have unrealistic expectations, but he's never complained about how we treat him.

He makes 1.75 now and will get another raise. He also has a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better shot at winning a championship at WSU than Alabama

Worked out pretty well with Saban so...

My mistake. I thought I remembered him or his wife complaining about the fans back when the Texas job opened up.

Because your coaching situations in football and basketball are even remotely comparable

That is only in football....we suck at basketball remember and Bama is not a desirable job?

How does he have a better shot at winning the title at WSU than Bama? Bama offers better facilities, better recruiting, better TV (national exposure) and he isn't at a directional school like WSU.

Yes, but like Shaka Smart it's not about the location or money at this point. Those guys know that their names are coming up for some big jobs on coaches move on or retire here soon. And they're content where they're at.
Agree. There are likely going to be some big time jobs open up soon, if they are happy where they are I can understand them not settling on a power 5 program and waiting for a chance at something bigger.

And this isn't football. He's not doing anything at Alabama that he couldn't do right now at Wichita State with the brand he's built there.

I seriously don't get what point you are trying to make here.
How is having a guy at the peak of college coaching help recruit a guy to a school ever been a negative?
How is having him backing you a problem? The way you've so terribly laid it out it seems like Saban backing a basketball coach would be a tremendous sell to Bama fans.
Basketball coaches like to bring recruits to big time football games, football coaches like to be able to bring recruits to big basketball games.
Saban's become engrained in the community, especially since the tornado. He's one hell of reference to have.
