Brian Selmon was really good, and underappreciated. His coverage skills were probably as good or better than any long snapper in the nation. I cant remember which game it was, but he had a huge hit on a punt coverage.

I don't think Saban would have used a scolly on him if he didn't think he could step right in.We will see when Penn ST comes after him in Sept.

I question some of the LSU fans that want RS returning kicks and punts. Dont abuse your weapons.
I think it's a slam dunk idea to use him as a KR/PR. To me it's dumb to use Patrick Peterson who's our best defensive player which many other fans want. Shepard barely played at all last year and won't figure in a big way once again on offense this year (unless they actually get smart and give him about 8-10 snaps a game at QB for wildcat) so it only makes sense for one of our fastest/shiftiest guys on the team to return kicks/punts.

I'm really not worried about losing Tiffin. Yea he had a big year last year and hit some clutch kicks, but he also missed extra points seemingly every other week. Fitzgerald is very replaceable as well. Losing Javy obviously hurts. Alabama should have plenty of explosive players to return kicks, but they won't have anybody (at least not right of the bat) who is a threat to score every time he returns a kick. I also hate losing our long-snapper Brian Selmen. He was a gamer (as much of one as a long snapper can be) who never had a bad snap on a field goal or punt and somehow made it downfield to be in on a tackle almost every time we punted. He won't be easy to replace.

It hasn't been that long ago Bama's return men couldn't catch one let alone return one.I don't remember the last one JA missed one.

Julio actually looked very good in the one game he filled in for Javy (had a 33 yard return) returning punts this year. Javy was good at making the first guy miss. With Julio the first guy just flies right off him.

LSU 2008 he missed two.(well he fumbled, he didnt miss the catch) He used to make me nervous when catching a kick.
